Vista Qualms

I've had to hijack permissions on many GB's of data before, ain't gonna be the last time.

If I am just deleting, I just delete as much as I can, and then wrest ownership with permissions and such, then continue.

Rinse and repeat until the drive is *empty* then reformat the partition or drive.

I do need a DOD-spec wiping program though...

I'm confused? What are you trying to do here? Just whipe clean a drive? There's programs that can do that, as well as they can go over it multiple times to ensure that there is not a single trace of data left (they can go over up to 32 times, which would take ages, I can assume).

*I* am not trying to do anything here, except (if you read my first post) help others with any Vista qualms or issues.

I am perfectly fine with my installation of Vista.

Although I did just finish downloading Spybot S&D. :surrender

Spybot S&D did not find anything (I had been wondering, as the started slowing down on boot-up since last week or so; almost became unresponsive once or twice).

I've downloaded AVG, thinking about Avast; I have precautions? about installing them. I hate intrusive software. I had not downloaded anything AV/AS related, including SS&D, since the installation of Vista, SP1 and SP2 updates through Windows Update.
