Do I need it? I have service pack 1 loaded but not IE8.

Did you d/l and install SP2 without any problems. I'm scared to death.

If you had problems, what were they? Were they easy to fix. hahaha.
M$ never makes anything that's easy to fix.

Any comments would be helpful.

Thanx

Are their problems being associated with it?

I upgraded to Windows seven a few months ago, so I probably would have been downloading the same SP right now if I hadn't. (I also use 64bit)

If you're worried, and are satisfied with the perfomance and security you are getting now, I would say there is no mad rush to get the new service pack.

Thanks for your reply. I tend to agree with you. Not having any problems without SP2 being loaded so I think I will ignore it.

When you upgraded to win7, did you buy the disks and upgrade over Vista? Did you have to reformat or will win7 override Vista? I think it's time for me to starting thinking about win7 upgrade but now sure how to go about it.

Any other comments you may have would be appreciated.

Thanx again.

Why would you not want to upgrade? They usually have performance boost and fixed security issues. It's really up to you though, if you don't really care then I wouldn't bother but if you like to be up-to-date then go for it.

I bought the upgrade, so no reformatting necessary. Just installs straight over the top of Vista. (However, I may at some point reformat and install 7 fresh. Undoubtabley this will ensure smoother performance)

My Windows Vista package includes both a 32bit and 64bit version. I elected to install the 32 bit version. The only thing I do on Windows is play games. Is there any compelling reason to upgrade it to the 64 bit version? And most importantly, would I be having to start from scratch or is it a painless upgrade regarding installed programs?
Thanks!

64bit is technically better. Certainly for games, however, is it worth it, right now? Probably not. By the time 64 bit is a viable & common infrastructure for OS', you'll probably have already upgraded beyond your current Vista OS. In other terms, I wouldn't bother with the effort for now. Unless you're bored :)
