Toes in the water...

Seems to be a lot of these lately.

I can get to OTz on my phone (but what a pain!) And on Matt's internet connection, but not on mine. I'm going back to the neighbor since the internet's been a pain anyhow. Not even sure if it's possible, but it's my best guess right now.

So we're looking at bundles and comparing Comcast and Fios. Might even get cable out of this! So far fios is winning. Any tips/tricks to get better deals?

I got the site working on my computer again. For now. I'm still beyond frustrated with the internet and not being able to get to the router, so we'll see.

My parents use a broadband wireless something or another from Verizon... Might think about that too. Haven't priced it though.

I used to be with Charter for many years and had no problems. Internet is super fast

When I was trying to lower down my budget though, I looked into Fios esp that I saw a lot of adverts, promo for bundles etc and noticed most in our neighborhood shifting to Fios. That was my BIGEST mistake as my cousin (who lives in a different town) and I shifted same time encountered many problems. Internet: despite their claim of fiberoptic super fast internet etc- would just shut down without notice like maybe loose internet access for like 4-5x in an hour especially @ peak usage times. I got the bundle so i also had cable with them and same thing- you loose connection with cable while watching a show. Their customer service sucked too as they can't even help you. The reason they told me for my several times complaints- it is not due to their towers as they have a lot- but due to interferences of connections when one's computer is near a lampshade or TV near the kitchen etc- reacts with Microwave/ toaster use. Which household doesn't have those appliances and equipment? It was very faulty and I was so dissatisfied with their service- i had to cancel after 3 months and opted to go back to Charter. Yup, I paid the early cancellation fee than having to deal with such faulty and overly advertised service :(

BTW- if ever you go Fios route- be careful when signing up as they have a lot of fine prints to the contract like how many times a service person can come down your home for repairs. With the problems that I encountered, they came once with no change as it still remained faulty afterwards. So when i called for another service, i will already be charged a fee for that same problem that was never fixed in the first place :(

If not mistaken, you also live in an apartment, right? IF you have plans of moving b4 the 1-2 yr contract is over- be wary as that also happened to me which also pushed me to cancel them. I was told during sign up that at my zip code they have Fios service all over town which made me complacent. When moving time, came- the location where we're going which is about 10 mins away, same zip code; FIOs was not available. So for the company to transfer service, I had to pay a service fee which was over $100 :(

GOOD luck. Hope u find the right one :D
