I'm not sure exactly what universal health care is. From what i have heard it doesn't sound like a good idea. It means that when you want to go to see the doctor--you can but, it's probably more of a hassle, simply because you can. I mean think about all the times you probably would of gone to the hospital for things that didn't need to be checked out, and the reason you didn't go was because it would of cost money; with universal health care you would have gone, and thusly the waiting rooms would only get more full.
I understand that some people can't afford health care, but, who says anyone can afford taxes that are 20% more, It's like your just being forced to pay health care. The other thing I heard is that the doctors/offices you use are subject to change. Everyone knows it's really annoying to switch doctors plus get used to a knew doctor, but, what if you were doing that every single time you had a check-up and sometimes a doctor needs to string things together, like chronic back aches, with a bladder infection, means you have kidney failure, well how are they going to do that if you go to another doctor every time?
So to avoid switching doctors to often you pay for "personal" health insurance. So now your paying for health insurance that you don't use in your taxes, plus the personal health insurance your allowed to pay for. I dunno seems kind of... not good. If I have this totally wrong please tell me, we had a discussion about it in class and this is what I came back with.
