I was listening to the radio yesterday and one of the lady DJ's commented on something that made me sit up and take note.

She was out buying some sexy undies for a long weekend away with her boyfriend and she saw a mom with her daughter looking at g strings and push up bras. When she got closer to the girls she realized that the mother wasnt buying herself underwear but she was buying them for her 10 year old daughter!
The DJ was disgusted that a mom would do this, but she had endless phone calls saying that she was wrong and that girls as young as 9 or 10 should be wearing G strings because they sit better with trousers and that push up bras should be used on very young girls so they dont get hanging boobs as they get older!

I was shocked to say the least..your thoughts please?

I hid my first thong from my mother, and I was 16! That may be on the other extreme, but I think ten is too young.

I've never heard anything about push up bras preventing sagging boobs. Besides, what is there to push up at ten?!?

I remeber when my Daughter was like I2 or so, And I went to buy her bra's .. I swear all they had was padded and push-ups..

First off my Daughter did not want a padded or push-up Bra, She herself saw the way society and her peers act and look. For myself..

Pushing Children to Dress like this at such a young age is just another way of skipping thier Childhood, Causing them to Grow up faster, making them appear older then they are, And for Girls, it also puts them in a higher Risk level for being a] sexually active, b] sexually assulted and c] the victim of a preditor.

Why can't children just be like Children. Why create the constant Image that you have to look a certain way to a part of society. I understand and know that it is just the way life is, and the society has become.. But I tell you.. Does not mean I have to think it's right.

that is way too young. that is sending the wrong message IMO. 10 years old is a time for being a kid and doing things kids do.

Girls of that age should be allowed to be children, there's plenty of time for that sort of thing later on in life. Oh, and as for the benifits of push up bras at that age - surely the biggest load of bollocks I've heard in a while. I'm sure there are many women on this site with fantastic breasts who never wore push up bras at that age!

There was a big story on one of our Current Affairs shows down here that stated that tweens were the next big market & designer clothes with padded & push up bras were the next "big thing".

It's up to us parents to not let it happen.
