Once a prairie girl, always a prairie girl. Perhaps not as stunning as mountains, but the prairies are where I live and they have a beauty all their own.

A canola field. My mission was to find a flax field but was foiled in that regard.






Cows creep me out. All they do is stand there and stare at you. :willy_nilly:


This is the best pic I've gotten of a red winged black bird. I also got some really good photos of other birds that I'll post in a different thread yet.

Do they? I haven't encountered goats as much but I've never known them to stare as much as cows. It's rather disconcerting. :ninja

Yeah I was taking pictures of goats a while back and one of them just walked up to the wire and stared at me the whole time I was there. It was pretty freaky! :willy_nilly:

Actually... a fully ripened Canola field makes a sweet shot. I also like the cow shot. I have a soft spot for their eyes.... very gentle. The meat is bloody good as well.

:nod: I'd like to get a pic of a canola field with a thunderstorm in the background. That would be cool. A flax field next to a canola field in bloom makes for a nice picture too. Nobody out here grows flax, though.

I agree that would make a nice shot. I hate flax though. When I was in my late teens I worked at an elevator / feed mill and damn near drowned in a flax bin. That stuff is wicked like quicksand.

Thanks! I have a Nikon D40. The cow and the bird were shot with my 55-200mm lens and the others with the 18-55mm kit lens.
