Unclaimed lottery ticket

So I just heard on the news that someone in Iowa won 16.5 million a year ago today on a lottery ticket and never claimed it. What are the odds that the person doesnt even know they won, and wouldnt that totally suck if you were the winner and didnt even know and lost it?! They have until 4:00 today to claim it or they lose it.
So how about you all? Do you always check your tickets or do you get lazy sometimes and say you will get around to it and forget?

I've never bought a lottery ticket. I've had a couple of them bought for me and I've always kept them safe, checked them religiously and gotten really angry when I win nothing.

Same here. Not a lotto person at all. I don't gamble either.

I used to buy Scratchers all the time, but I stopped because I never won more than a dollar or two. Blech.

As far as normal lotto goes, I get bored selecting numbers, and end up just punching random shit in at the end, so no, I don't do much lotto either.

Is that where it picks the numbers for you? I've never tried that, and to be honest, I feel kind of dumb asking about it, so I just skip it.

We check all of ours when we think to buy them.

My MIL's bf buys lotto tickets for every drawing.. and he checks each ticket when he gets the new ones...

yep thats all I ever get, just go up to the counter and ask for the ticket you want quick pick easy peasy

I wish there was some kind of lottery rebate, where if you don't win a significant amount of money, they give you all those wasted pound coins back.
