Ok, voting is upon us tomorrow. Who are you (British) voting for and why. If anyone else wants to join in, tell us who you would vote for and why, if you were British, be interesting to hear.:thumbup Also fill us in about the choice you have and the results as they come in.:thumbup

In Harlow we have...

Adeeko Oluyemi - The Christian Party
Butler Edward Mark - British National Party
Croft John Anthony - UK Independence Party (UKIP)
Halfon Robert Henry -The Conservative Party Candidate
Rammell [Rammell] William Ernest [Bill] - The Labour Party Candidate
White [White] David Charles [Dave] - Liberal Democrats

I'll be voting for Robert Halfon for the Conservatives. He is big on anti racism and help for sick people being a Cerebral Palsey sufferer himself. He also throws himself behind a lot of Harlow issues. Our other only likely candidate is Bill Rammell who still believes that Iraq had WMDs they were going to use on us.

I thought you guys vote for you own local ministers and they decide on Prime Minister. Has something changed? Am I wrong from step 1?

I'm probably going to vote Conservative becuase I agree with their policies the most, such as more discipline in schools.

Labour annoys me becuase it's all very well Brown saying he's going to do x,y and z when Labour have had 13years to do that.
And I'm just not jumping on the Liberal Democrats bandwaggon. I don't agree with most of their policies and I am fucking sick of people telling me to vote Clegg becuase he talked nicely in a debate when most of these people don't know what his policies are. And I am sick of the Liberal Democrats putting leaflets through my door (we've had 18 leaflets and most of them didn't say what the policies were - they were just slagging off the Conservatives!) and knocking on the door 3 times in one day asking if I'm voting for them and if not, why not.

Personally though, I think we're going to be heading for a Hung Parliament.

that's how it works. you vote for your local Minister of Parliament and basically the party with the most MPs puts their leader up for PM.

The leader of the party with the most MPs becomes Prime minister, as Ed said:thumbup

:thumbup Personally I've found it to be Brown focusing most on the negatives but I agree with you about the Lib Dems, they seem to be just a nice idea that wont work, economically and socially in the real world.

Our local Liberal Dem candidate has been slagging off the Conservatives a lot. The leaflets are purely about how the Conservatives have ruined High Wycombe, such as them shutting a local swimming pool that no one used.

But yeah I agree that the Lib Dem policies won't work. Getting rid of Univesity fees would be nice but it is impossible.

So even if your candidate is shit, you vote for him/her so that you'll get the PM you want?

Pretty much or you can vote more on local issues and candidates, which is what I'm doing somewhat. Tactical voting can come into play too. If you love Labour but hate Conservative and Labour hasn't got a chance where you live, you vote Lib Dems to keep the Conservatives out, ect

Yeah we do, Paul Goodman. http://www.wycombeconservatives.org/index.php?sectionid=100.

He's alright. I really liked his campaign to keep services at Wycombe Hospital, like the maternity ward for tricky/dangerous births and emergency c-sections, becuase it is stupid that they have gone as women are giving birth in ambulences now. He did a lot to try and get it back.

But other than that, and shutting a swimming pool no one used or cared about, I haven't seen much else of what he's done.

If I get my voting card in today, then I am going to vote.........still undecided, it is between either Conservatives, though I think they are no better than Labour, and the Lib Dem, only made surging gains in opinion polls due to the televised debates...been a long time supporter of them, but felt they are lacking something, maybe it is the fact they haven't had experience in office, dunno really

There's no doubt the UK electoral system is fucked.

It's in need a massive overhaul.

I mean, when Parliament was formed 400 years ago, and constituency's elected a member to represent them in parliament; mostly all that happened was these members ran off to their special 'club' and spent money from the people without ever representing them in any meaningful fashion.
And of course, there was no meaningful vote, because a vote against the local pop vox was a wasted vote. And of course you couldn't ever think you're vote meant anything towards any form of national leadership change...

Thank god now things have changed!

Oh... wait...

Just more angry that the only vote that can force any change for me is a vote for UKIP.

The acceptable face of Racism....

UKIP is the second favorite where you live??? :eek What constituancy are you in? Or do you mean that the main parties are pretty much the same shit under a different name?

Buckingham.

On the plus side, the UKIP candidate, Nigel Faraje, is related to me.
And a fine bloke. Wears hats and smokes a lot. Occasionly says darkies should go home... But that's just an endearing character trait! :D

Wow, six parties. In the U.S. there are probably that many but only 2 sometimes 3 have the ability to get elected. They are Republican, Democrat, Independent. Is that the same way in the U.K.? I wonder what the Christian Party wants out of life?
