I am liking Ubuntu on my netbook, and it works ok as a 'live cd' on my laptop.

Anyone tried installing it alongside Windows 7- if so, any issues or all went smoothly?

If you mean dual booting, yeah I did that on the beta of Windows 7, the only problem was getting the options of which OS you want to boot with, both will overwrite the MBR, which will leave you with a tricky way to get both running

You have to install Windows and Ubuntu on a different partition, because each have their own partition table Ubuntu has the ext4 Windows has NTFS

Aye, dual booting.

I'd be sure to partition my existing setup if I did do this but whether Ubuntu 10.0.4 would mess up the MBR is the key thing for me of course.

I tried it and it automatically installed the GRUB thingy so that I can get ti Windows 7.

At first I was worried because when I booted into Windows 7, a big fat "this windows is not genuine" box came up. It was a perfectly valid and activated copy of Windows 7 so I rebooted and all was well.

It flies along.. it even gets over a network issue I have with some new Homeplug connectors I bought that Windows can't get over and that I'm not good enough with Windows networking to sort I guess.
