WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials on Wednesday confirmed Israel launched air strikes against Syria last week, but would not discuss the intended targets.
"The strike I can confirm. The target, I can't," said one U.S. official. The official said there was more than one strike.
Another official called reports on the likely targets "confused." The New York Times on Wednesday said likely targets were weapons caches that Israel believes Iran has sent through Syria to Hezbollah.
Syria has protested to the United Nations about Israel's air strike against its territory on Thursday. Israel has declined to comment on the charge.

Has anyone else heard this? The media has been pretty quiet about this. I haven't heard anything out of the mainstream media. Here are a few more links.

Does anyone think that this might raise tensions in the area? Or is it no big deal?

Yeah, I'm not sure where this might go... I wish I knew more about this, I wonder if they really took out some sort of missile base like some are saying.

Sweet, another war we sink billions of dollars into. I saw a blurb yesterday that the us has spent $121b since the 9/11 attacks in our war on terror.

What the US needs to do is trying to stay for some time out of wars that don't really have anything to do with them, it's enough with Iraq, don't you think. And stop supporting Israel.

I don't mean this as an attack on you or anything, but that's exactly what Al Qaeda has said they want us to do.

This reply reminds me of people that live in a neighborhood with crime, but do nothing about it. We live in world where evil is going on. All countries should stop sitting by and doing nothing. This is in no way saying that the US or other countries are not without faults. They all are. But to sit back and never take a stand, to never get involved, no I do not agree with that at all.

Evil has been going on in this world since man first walked on two legs... so what? Is war the cure for evil or is it evil itself. It's all a matter of perspective and how you view the rest of the world. We are in Iraq, is it to battle evil? Because that would be a lot of evil people that we are battling over there.
There are a lot of other countries that deal with terrorists and evil on a daily basis. Yet their response isn't to invade a country that had nothing to do with it.

Two former CIA officers say the president squelched top-secret intelligence, and a briefing by George Tenet, months before invading Iraq.

It wasn't about terrorism, it wasn't about WMD's, it wasn't even about America's safety from evil... it was about regime change and our government used the fear of 9/11 to do it.
So why are we in Iraq Grace? it isn't about making America safer.
Even General Petraeus won't say it is...
YouTube - Petraeus: "I Don't Know" If My Strategy Makes America Safer
According to Admiral Fallon (General Petraeus' boss) America is not safer and that is exactly why Petraeus wouldn't say it was, he knew he would have to defend his lies.

To say that these other countries are sitting back and not taking a stand is down right insulting. These countries have been dealing with terrorism long before this country ever existed. They now how to deal with the problem without making it worst. Vigilant law enforcement and good intelligence have served them well for 1000's of years. I would hardly say that not joining with America in invading a sovereign nation for the sole purpose of regime change is "sitting back and not doing anything"

You don't need to share my perspective to at least understand that these other countries are not just sitting by and doing nothing. What would you have them do? I think they are dealing a hell of a lot better with the problem then we are.
Evil is nothing new. What do you think is was like living through the "cold war"? When you knew at any moment entire regions of the U.S. could be vaporized. Where once a week schools had air-raid drills where the kids would hide under their desks and cover their heads in preparation of a nuclear attack. The terrorists today are nothing when you compare the two.
