I didn't like the movies much cos I thought it was quite badly acted. The books are better (although by no means are they wonderfully written pieces of literature. More something with an enjoyable plot that takes an afternoon to read)

My favourite character is Alice though.

How would you compare Twilight with the Sookie Stackhouse books?

How would you compare Twilight with the Sookie Stackhouse books?

I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse series because the plots are slightly better and more interesting. Twilight can be pretty dull at times.

If Breaking Dawn had never been written, I might prefer Twilight but God, I hate the plot in Breaking Dawn and it just ruined the previous books for me. I hate how perfect Bella is at everything and the whole Baby arc just ruined it for me. And Stephenie Meyer giving her reasons for how a baby was made just didn't do it for me becuase for years (and I have been a Twilight fan for years) she said that when a vampire was made, all the fluids turn into venom. So how does semen stay as semen cos last time I checked, it was a fluid unless Mr Mayer has some serious problems:willy_nilly:
And Jacob's chapters bored me. What the fuck was the point of an entire chapter being devoted to a perfect woman who we then never meet again. Trees died for that and it breaks my heart.
I actually threw Breaking Dawn at the wall after reading it. If Zorak hadn't bought it for me, I would have taken it back and demanded a refund :thumbdown

At least Charlaine Harris stays true to the reality she created. No half way through deciding Sookie is preggo and Vampires can sire young after all. I like the fact she has true vampires (none of that glitter) and proper wolves! And I like the way the characters seem to progress with the time span of the books. Like Arlene, her character changed and I thought it was a natural change. And Sookie just doesn't whine so much. Bella always turned me off with her constant whining. Though I hate HATE HATE the word of the day references in Sookie Stackhouse. Makes me want to throw the books against the wall.

I hope that made sense, it took me some time to write all that cos I kept writting sentences that made no sense to me at all. I'm off my face on all the medicine I can find cos I am feeling very ill at the moment.

PLEASE READ THE SERIES BEFORE YOU WATCH THE MOVIES!!! there's quite a few details they leave out in the movies. especially in the movie Eclipse!

im thrilled they are making Breaking Dawn true to the book!! cant wait for the first part to come out next year! (november) but waiting on the 2nd part will be a killer!!

as far as the true blood series, ive read the books and they are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the TV show!! the show just ruined the books!

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Part of the problem is when authors started turning monster/sociopath vampires into romantic super heroes. I did not like the second Twilight book because Bella spent 3/4 of the book lamenting being dumped by her vamp boyfriend.

In the Sookie books, I've always thought the word of the day was amusing. To each his/her own. ;) I noticed that in the 10th book Sookie considered the ramifications of being turned into a vampire. I'm undecided about whether I'd like to see that or not. I could inject life into the series or kill it. If you go with the premise that a vampire can be loved, it is only a natural conclusion, that the human being would eventually want eternity to spend with their love, especially if they can become ageless super heroes. ;) I can accept it in a story.

It's all ready happened to Bella, anyone want to see Sookie get turned?
:p

 As I said in another post, part of the reason is that you don't benefit from what Sookie is thinking as you do in the books. There is absolutely no humor in the show.
