Troops overseas

....they should have never been pulled out of Afghanistan in the first place leaving our Canadian troops to continue on their own with only a skeleton crew from the country that started the mess in the first place....so yes I think we should concentrate on Afghanistan until the people who live there ask us to leave.

There was never a good reason for the U.S. to pull out of Afghanistan until they had nailed Bin Laden. War on terror, remember? They've had approx 6 years to find this guy and they might have if our fearless leader had not decided to get even with Saddam.

We never "pulled out" of Afghanistan, there was a huge troop reduction of course, but still a large special forces presence there.

I think we should be reducing radically the amount of troops on base in foriegn coountries to help out those who are already exhausted.

Personally I don't see any reason why Afghanistan should be as rough as Iraq, there is really no "urban" issues there, rough terrain, and severe weather issue, but I would put our men and women against any in the world, anyplace anytime.

Yes, there should be a global reduction in US troop presence, not just in Iraq

I watched a special on one of the news channels that had an interview with a army special forces member, that said they had Obama, eerrhhh, I mean osama trapped. When they asked if they could proceed, they were told to stop tracking him. The afghan guides also left when they found out obama, damnit, I mean osama was that close by.

I would love to see more troops in Afghanistan, no doubt. But I don't think we should start pulling out of Iraq unless A) We're certain they can stand on their own or B) Their government asks us to.

I feel like until the military decides less troops are needed in Iraq, it is beyond foolish to remove them. If something bad happens due to lack of manpower, you dishonor the sacrifices made by others before you. If a reduction CAN be made in Iraq safely, great :) Otherwise, it is just a political move.

As for Afghanistan, I feel like it shouldnt be forgotten, but it should be decided by the military. They know what they need, and we should do our best to accomdate it.

Hit the nail on the head with this one... :thumbup

I forgot to mention it, but also, a withdraw from Iraq from the military should be proposed and outlined. I understand we will always have some sort of presence there, espeically with the amount of oil, but once Iraq can function on its own two feet, let itstand on its own two feet. We cant afford to be crutchs forever.

send more troops to both countries finish the fight! and by the way bin laden will never be found. look how long it took america to find saddam, what makes u think he's still alive he's a terrorist they want to die for their religion and their 62 virgins.

There is absolutely no reason to bash an entire religion due to the poor views and actions of one member while under their flag.

They may never find him, he may be dead, but that is piss poor logic not to try out hardest to find him.
