Sunday's stabbing death of 2 year old Zackriah Sanders has a family and residents shocked and in mourning. The child’s father, 34 year old Demar Sanders sits behind bars at the Pulaski County jail charged with capital murder. Police arrested him at his home on Sterling Drive Sunday afternoon. The child's Godfather, Reverend Bennie Jackson said Sanders is the associate pastor of his Faulkner County church. He says Sanders is a well respected man all throughout the church and community. But clearly something went wrong, according to Jackson. He said Sanders was acting very strange during a counseling session with his wife at the church when he suddenly left the building with his son. And that's when Jackson called 9-1-1. “We noticed a change in his behavior,” said Jackson. “The wife and I were trying to get him to come back but he locked the door and drove off. That is not the Demar we know. He is a man of integrity." Jackson would not release the details of that meeting saying it is confidential. KARK 4 News checked for possible records of domestic violence from the Sanders’ home. Little Rock police say no such reports have been filed.
