I bought an HP D7560 about 4-5 years ago and was told I had to use either new or remanufactured cartridges because the cartridge has a computer chip and it has to be reset.
Turns out it only needed to be reset in order to see the ink level.

I used to fill my own years ago to save money.
I found a website that shows how incredibly simple it is to refill an HP 564/564XL cartridge.

If you print a lot, and I do, this could save you significantly over time.

Other cartridges are listed there....

I hardly ever use my printer. But years ago I'd sometimes use it. And it was a little frustrating that the ink cartridges would run out of ink too soon.

The thing about printers that I have always hated is that the ink cartridges are so expensive. Printers are so cheap nowadays that you three or four new cartridges equals the cost of the entire machine! If you do any significant amount of printing, re-manufactured carts or refilling them yourself is definitely the way to go. The printer companies certainly don't like you going that route though and will try to scare you with warnings that they won't function properly or are inferior.
