I hate the uncertainty of tipping. I wish it was just built into the bill so I wouldn't have to think about it. It's hard on the customers and it's hard on the employees.

I do tip every now and then. But to be honest I don't think it's a must to tip because it's my money and I can do anything I want with it. Moreover, you are getting paid for your job and no one is forcing you to keep doing the job if it's not paying you very well. So, if I don't give you a tip and you start making all sorts of attitude then you seriously need to do a recheck on your morals.

However, like I wrote above, I give tips but I might not give if I get a very bad service or the person at the receiving end is over expectant to a fault.

I tip well for good service. The food quality is a product of the restaurant not the server. The service can be great even if the food sucks.

What i will say it will sound bad maybe rude too but it is the truth ..
If a waiter get harldy anything and expect from tiping to make money then sorry thats not my problem.
Why should i give a lot or any.. it is the problem of the owner, they have to change and pay a decent amount money... so he/she have people there working of nothing while he/she makes money and expect the people that go to eat to pay the wages of the workers there..
I go there to eat, pay my mea,l why should i pay the people that works there ...while he/ she make the money
am not saying anything bad about the workers and i can understand them but this system need to change ..
ok to tip a little when you feel like it or when you have the money but why tip when you have harld anything yourself

I completely agree with you Dreek, it's not like we are getting paid loads to, and at the end of the day we work hard for our money so we should be able to spend it however we want to. Nobody should feel pressured to tip just because everyone else does, and you should get a great service at every restaurant regardless of tips!! Why on earth would a restaurant ever think of giving you poor service just because you don't tip, that's disgraceful.

I am surprised that someone agrees with me at all. I have had chats about this with people who ALL unite against me on this, when I am CLEARLY on the side of our freedom. That freedom means the freedom to choose whether you would like to tip or not, without negative repercussions. It is absolutely disgraceful that people fold so easily under this kind of pressure, and even berate those that are strong enough to say no, this is my money, and I am not tipping tonight.

They have actually begun to include the top into the bill at certain restaurants over here in the UK which is absolutely disgraceful.

Yes, I understand this, as this came up time and time again with the last people that I spoke to about this, but it kind of isn't my fault that waitress and waiters do not get paid enough. I am pretty poor too. I do the work that I can, but nobody gives me free money and or hand outs. The sense of entitlement is just ridiculous there. You cannot expect people to just give you their hard earned money and then if they don't, you'll punish them by spitting in their food or whatever. What kind of bullshit is that?

The money is mine to do what I want with.

It isn't a handout or free money. You're paying those people to do their job. If you're too broke or too cheap to be able to tip then just stay home. You have it backwards, you're the one with the sense of entitlement here.

If they paid full wages.. the price of the food would be higher...so its pay the tip or pay more for the food anyway...the tip system tends to make the the waitresses and waiters more friendly IMO...I see nothing wrong with that.

I try to tip all the time if I have it. I worked in a restaurant as a hostess and we were paid $2.50 an hour plus tips. At the end of the night the restaurant would split all of the tips between everyone who was working at that time. Back then that was what I had to live off of, the tips. So I understand how it feels to live off of tips. If I have extra money I will go above and beyond and leave a great tip if the service was excellent. I do believe in not leaving a tip if you've had terrible service.

I think you are very wrong why someone stay home and dont eat out if can manage to pay their meal, no need to pay more then that .. why tip btw why not tip the people at the stores for clothes, what about the people you buy a car .. you get what am trying to say they work too and try to sever you good what is the different if it is food or other servise am sorry i will say it again the owner need to put more money and pay the people that works there ...
