Now that Iraq is becoming fully stabilized, her leaders are starting to talk about U.S. troop reduction and withdrawal.

Is anybody else as amazed as I am that this is happening so quickly?

I wonder how the America haters are going to spin us proving our good intentions by walking away when we are asked.

Who's taking bets on the Dems taking credit for winning the war they've been telling us we lost for the last four years? :24:

Who cares about which political party gets credit.

Our boys and girls kicked some ass over there, got a place stabilized, trained a force empowered enough to take care of any problems.

Sounds as if our boys and girls get the real credit, along with the Iraqi people. :)

I never wanted our military going into Iraq in the first place so I'd be thrilled. But guess what, the Bush Administration does not want our military to leave Iraq.

I seriously doubt that Iraq is getting fully stabilized though it looks to be calming down somewhat over there so this is probably a good time to start the withdrawal. Things can change suddenly though and i hope this dosent go ahead regardless. I believe the war was wrong but I also believe we have a moral obligation to stay there as long as we're needed.

A withdrawl isnt "Ok guys, lets pack it up and go home" and everyone at once leaves. Theyll send out X amount of soldiers at a time.

??? What? You mean before the job is done right? You're telling me if we could leave Iraq tonight with victory and honor, GWB wouldn't let it happen? I know you hate the guy, but he isn't ACTUALLY a monster you know. ;)

I couldn't agree in any stronger terms to the bolded in your text. I believe Iraq IS stabilizing, and as such I think we're getting really really close to true victory. I think the "Mission Accomplished" speech was accurate and called for. Bush was talking about Military on military combat. Since then, we've moved into reconstruction, and our (collectively) boys have done a fantastic job. When the elected national government of Iraq tells us "Thank you, but your services are no longer required," I'll be in the streets shooting off firecrackers with the war haters. Make no mistake, the United States WILL leave Iraq when they ask us to. We're not in it for land or oil.

I'm ridiculously excited to think that time is getting so close. :D True, honest to God victory despite all the haters. This my friends is historic.

We need our financial gains to be protected. BTW I don't hate him although I do think he is a bafoon.

A mission was accomplished but not "the mission". It was dishonest because they tried to paint a picture that we had accomplished our goal in Iraq which was far from it. Most military casualties have happened since that speech.

We're not in it for land or oil.

Keep believing the latter. :thumbup

That is your definition of victory and a fine example of rationalization. This "situation" has lasted longer than WWII. I'm sure if it dragged out for 20 years plus and when we finally walked away with a stabile Iraq, but our economy is in ruins, you'd be saying the same thing. Somehow victory in Iraq is more important to you can all other factors currently facing the U.S.

Maybe you don't remember but before we went into Iraq, Administration officials flat out stated we would be in and out of Iraq in 6 months. Now that might have been a success.

Weak. You're normally so much better at this. :thumbdown

Non agreement is weak? Agreeing with you is better? ;)
