There's a problem with safety procedures? I know people freak out about where to put the waste, but there hasn't been a major accident I've heard of in a generation, not that I follow such things.

Right. That was 1986, over a generation ago. It's the most recent one I could think of as well.

eta: I just looked up 'generation' and found that it's 30 years, not 20. ..... oops.

Chernobyl was not a safe reactor design either. With a different reactor type that incident probably wouldn't have happened...

Yes
Alot of people use the example of Chernobyl as a case against nuclear energy
Which i believe is wrong
The process of nuclear fusion is the way forward

we pollute the planet just as everything else does...is there any substantial evidence that says we're polluting fasting than the Earth can absorb? lol, no...i respect the Earth. should humans take what they need? yes. why? because my survival is more important than the planets well being for my great great great great great grandchildren rather than my children of the present.

Nuclear weaponry is but one link in the manacles of mankind that are instrumental in holding the World to ransom
Like all insturment of mass destruction, it is repulsive and obscene
As we relentlessly press onwards in our quest to achieve ever increasing numbers in crime rates, ethnic genocide victims and religious conflicts; our population is snowballing and becoming an impersonal, unfeeling and selfish society which will inevitably end in self destruction. The governments of the world are in a comfort zone, in which it is easier to hate than to love. Where carpet bombing is less trouble than negotiation and where human lives are considered worthless by the power hungry leaders of the so-called civilised world.
Isn't it sad?

sure it's sad, but it's necessary...without a war, we can't have any hippies...sorry, that may be a shitty analogy but it's all i can think of.

Stupid environmentalists... They're a big factor in polluting the atmosphere by not allowing progress in nuclear technology. A lot of people die each ear in fossil fuel mining, while a fraction die from nuclear related causes...

The best bit of being a so-caled Hippie in the late Sixties was Flower Power, the Dawning of the Age odf Aquarius ,when World Peace almost broke out. Flower Power was wonderful while it lasted, but when it was over it was as if it had been just a midsummer night’s dream. When the realisation dawned that it was a dream that could never come to fruition, we all meekly trudged off to resume our mundane former existences. At least we took with us some memories. but all that remained from the brief outbreak of love and peace was………………
…………………..a trail of dead flowers.:flowers:
