...but how much do drills usually cost? Not the entire thing, just the part that does the hole-drilling. The little metal part.

I kinda knocked my dad's drill off a table in the garage and the thing snapped >_< Hopefully he won't be mad if I buy a new one.

You mean the bit? Go to a home depot or lowes and buy a replacement bit. Depending on the size and type of it, 3-20 bucks.

I have a 1/2 inch bit that will go through metal, drywall, wood, PVC, and sheetmetal (like siding and the such) that I got at a local hardware store for about 18 dollars.

It's worth it. The thing is my baby.

The size, I'm not sure of it, but my estimate is it's about....maybe 4 or 5 inches? And very thin. So probably $5-10 right?

Yeah, take the old bit with you and say I just need a new one like this. Anyone at home depot/lowes will direct you to the same (or closest to same) one.

it should say what size it is on the drill bit very small on the smooth part of the bit (that goes in the chuck of the drill). If it is very small, which i'm assuming it is since it broke so easy, for a couple bucks you can get a 2 pack.
