Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he's canceling July 4 recess for Senate to deal with the debt ceiling crisis.

Lawmakers must raise the nation's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by Aug. 2. Otherwise, the Treasury will run out of money to pay the nation's bills in full and on time.

Republicans have demanded that any deal to raise the debt ceiling include deep spending cuts, but they have been reluctant to consider measures favored by Democrats that would increase revenue.

We could freeze everything and keep a status quo and it all would sort it out.

The more time they spend in office the more time they have to cause damage with their actions.

I heard from our lobbyist yesterday state that in MI alone the state govt typically has about 4500 bills a year presented for consideration. That is just sickening. That is micro management on steroids

Compromise on what exactly?

Why is the GOP holding the debt hostage at all? Why isn't this a simple up or down vote?

The debt ceiling isn't being raised so the government can spend more money, it's raising it accommodate money already spent. Not one fucking republican raised a stink when it was raised 8 times during Bush's spending spree. But now that Obama is in office it automatically becomes an issue???

I don't want to hear on word out of you GOPers when interest rates go up and cost us all more money.

You can do much better your self. I hope one day you'll be able to make a post and not twist the intent of other people's statements. I have never said or implied what you are implying. Compromise is a cornerstone of making government function. The Dems are more than willing to compromise. The GOPpers are dead set against a functional government if they can't have their way. This is a fact for anyone who cares to see.
