BCS=Bullshit Championship Series!

Okay--I got no problem with Florida in the National Championship game, but Oklahoma is NOT the best choice. They were beaten by Texas on a neutral field (and quite handily). USC is the best team in the nation in terms of talent and they won't be there. Its a crock of shit. They should have at least a 4 team if not an 8 team playoff. But this is like the 3rd year in a row that the BCS does not have the best two teams in the nation in the final. Last time was SC v. Texas in perhaps the best championship game in college football history. Just total bullshit we all have to put up with this crap! :mad

Mulder...forward your idea to NCAA and see if they agree....it's just crazy they don't have a playoff format....it would solve alot of things....

yeah is is bull shit all right

that and if you lose earlier in the year it does not hurt you as much

i would go with the top four going to the traditional bowl and then have like a super bowl of college game 2 weeks later for the title.

No--a much better format would be to have the playoffs now--then you still have all the bowl games in January except that one of them is the last two standing out of 8 or 4. 8 would be better--that would be two weeks of playoffs in December.

the argument against that though is that kids are approaching finals if not in the middle of taking them.

yeah, they could find a way to make the student-athlete a better time table for classes....or just cut out the during the week game and just have games on Saturdays.

I was not saying it was my point of view. Pretty sure the bball players are active so if they can the football players should be able to handle it.

Mulder just wants 8 so that SC would have a shot :24:

I think the plus one is about the best one can expect. those in charge have been pretty stubborn about this.

I agree with the BCS being bullshit but to say that USC is the best team I'm going ot have to say you're crazy....right now there isn't a team in the nation that can compete with the gators...I hate to say it because I hate the gators....I do think Texas should of gone over OU but that's the way the cookie crumbles

USC always has "the best team in the country" but every year they lose to someone they shouldnt.

I agree about OK though, no way they should have jumped Texas after UT beat them at a neutral site. Total BS.

Do you want to bet which team gets the most NFL draft picks this coming year? USC has probably 8 guys on the defense who will get drafted. And If you put USC against any other team in the nation and had Vegas handicap the game, USC would be the favorite. The Gators do not have the athleticism on both sides of the ball that SC has--that's just a plain fact. USC matches up perfectly against Florida's spread offense because of the athleticism they have on defense. Tebow might no even make it through the game if he tried too many of those fullback type rushes he loves to do.

Here is from last year after the season ended:

College Football News: Oddsmakers tab USC as top team - at VegasInsider.com, the leader in Sportsbook and Gaming information - College Football Stories, College Football Headlines, College Football Top News, College Football Latest News, NCAA Footbal

USC was ranked No. 1 even with two losses by the oddsmakers--which means they would be a favorite against any other team in the nation. It was the same this year (I heard it on the radio, but can't find the actual odds). Point being is if you took the Gators and put them on a neutral field against the Trojans, the Trojans would be favorites--probably 3 points.

Where USC gets hurt is playing in the PAC 10--the competition is so bad that they get hurt in the BCS standings.

Yes--Texas should be playing Florida, no question. And even worst is the other games--who the fuck wants to see SC play Penn State or Texas play whoever the hell they are playing (I think Ohio State). Total Bullshit. We could have a great 8 team playoff--two weeks in December and the final in January.

I am not a USC fan--never have been--I just want to see some good football. And my opinion on USC being the best team in terms of talent is simply an observation made by watching them play. But its hard to get up for games against Oregon and Stanford and some of the other scrub teams in the PAC-10. The always lose one game every year to some crappy team simply because they look past them.

not this year Mulder

USC would not beat either OK or FL

You're fucking crazy--you don't know how to judge football talent. You guys watch all that high flying offensive bullshit from Florida and Oklahoma against lousy teams and it impresses you. You need to look at the actual players.

Again, do you want to bet which team gets the most NFL draft picks???

Also--why does Las Vegas have them as the odds on best team?

well happy fucking birthday to you too.

so friggin what if they have more draft picks

that is all on paper

they were not the best team this year and you are nuts if you think Tebow would be reduced to mincemeat. that kid may never make it as a pro but he is one of the best all time college players.

We could argue it forever and never know because the only way to settle it is on the field, but I do believe Florida is the best team in the country right now and I do believe they would beat USC on a neutral field. And check my avatar if you think I'm a Florida fan...I fucking hate them.

Florida will send a few to the pros too, but the argument with BCS bowls is how they play as a team, not how they get drafted.

I agree a playoff is needed. Alabama, USC and Texas are every bit as deserving of a shot as Florida and OK.
Now my team gets to play Utah in the Sugar Bowl...whoopty fuckin do:surrender

Based on what criteria? They had one loss just like Florida and Oklahoma. The difference howerver is that SC does not lose out of conference games--when they played Ohio State (ranked No. 10), they crushed them (Ohio State scored 3 points). Oklahoma lost to Texas convincingly, which means that Texas is also better than USC by your rationale.

I can buy an argument that Florida or Texas is better than USC (I would disagree) but not Oklahoma--no fucking way.

And yes--Tebow in the NFL would be turned to mincemeat and USC has an NFL quality defense--universally judged the best defense in college football and perhaps the best ever. Tell me the last quarterback you saw in the NFL that runs like a fullback that lasted? It doesn't fucking happen--they slide in the NFL for a good reason. I love Tebow--he's a tough kid with a good attitude, but when you play against linebackers who are 275 and safeties that are 235 and run the 40 in 4.5 and bench press 450 pounds you can't fucking put your head down and bull them over as a 235 pound quarterback.

And because defense dominates big games, that's why USC would be favored agaisnt OK, Texas, or Florida because those flashy offenses and quaterback running that works against lesser talent would do nothing against SC's defense. None of those teams would score more than 20 points--the only issue is whether SC would score 21 or more.
