What about the concept of electing someone that is outside of the political elite class. Either someone in congress who hasn't been in office long enough to be fully corrupted, that still cares about their constituents, and isn't all about staying in office by any means necessary. Or someone from the business world, with a proven track record of business successes. Or maybe someone that was in politics that has been out for a while but is still respected and has name recognition to make a run at the presidency.
We need a change, and not an Obama type change. We need someone that isn't a part of the political elite, that's strong enough to stand up to congress.
The names that are being thrown out there on the Republican side aren't really any that stand out to me other than Mitt Romney. Some of the ones that I've heard are...
Tim Pawlenty
Sarah Palin
Mitt Romney
Mike Huckabee
Haley Barbour
Newt Gingrich
Bobby Jindal
If you want a political outsider, someone who hasn't held political office (though is running for the Senate in 2010), then the name I'd throw out there is Rand Paul (Ron Paul's son). He seems to share his dad's political beliefs for the most part, but is probably unelectable because people will say he doesn't have any real experience.
The country needs a change, and what little change we've gotten from Obama hasn't been good change. I wish we could just scrap the entire electorate right now, term out all sitting members of Congress, and start over with strict term limits for political office. Make serving in political office about serving the people again, and not about trying to figure out how long you can stay in power.
I'm sure the political elite in this country will never let any of that come to be, but it'd sure be nice.
