For those of you that have a heating device (e.g., furnace, etc) in your home that has a thermostat.

At what temperature do you set the thermostat in the winter months?

During the day, mine is at around 70F/21C. I turn it down to 65F/18C when asleep or when not at home.

I leave it on 72. Sometimes my roommate will flip it to AC. He gets stuffy under his electric blanket, so I have to be cold.

We kept going over on our electric bill and found out that the more you change it, the more it costs. It's not so much what it's set to, as long as it stays there.

I also have a space heater in my room. I am very cold by nature.

When I used the furnace (now I have a woodburner) I kept it set at 69 during the day and down to 67 at night while sleeping.

It's an automatic type thermostat. Set it and forget it.

I want one of those... with the timer. Turn it down when every one is at work and down at night, but never ever have to think about it. So cool. My parents used to have one.

I use it in the summer with the central air too. I dial up when not home and set it for 30 minutes before I am to arrive home to cool down again. The one I have has four settings you can use throughout the day/night. Weekend settings too for when you're home more.

It really can save you money. They aren't that expensive either. Your heating/cooling dealer can install one for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

Its automatic...programmable thermy i have...

8am-9am its set to 19C/66F

9am-3pm it is set to 17C/62F

3pm-11pm its set for 19C

11pm-8am its set to 17C

but i confess, when i am home that thermostat gets my fingers pressing its buttons to higher it to 20C, as i don't care to have to wear my jacket onto of my sweaters...and believe me i probably would....if i wasn't so cheap I'd have it set to 23C/73F during the time i am home.

I like warmer temperatures...I wear sweaters in the summer when the temperature drops bellow 27C/81F....now ask my why the hell i'm in Canada...lmao

When I was a kid, I'd go to school in 41F/5C weather with no coat on. Now, the furnace is set to 70/21 and I have a jacket on inside the house. My doc said it's a vasoconstriction issue. My toenails turn blue, and my hands get really cold.
