The Universe

From what i have just heard the universe is enormous. The universe is so huge it would take us about 2.2 million years at the speed of light to leave earth to reach the next galaxy. The edge of the universe is thought to be 14 billion light years.. There is enough galaxies in the universe for every single people on this earth:eek. Everyone can at least have 15 galaxies if i am not mistaken. How good is that?

Anyway, what i want to do is for us to be imaginative. Suppose the claim about Gods existence is true, and there is actually a after life. What if after we die, we went to the other part of the universe? I know it may sound silly, but lets us use our imagination here a bit. What do you think?

And I thought this was going to be controversial. Your thinking of interstellar reincarnation and of course I'd say why not? I think it would be reincarnation because I tend to think when speaking of the afterlife, we are speaking of another plane of existence, a parallel universe, or simply some place else. While I might be wrong, the Universe as we know it is in our plane (I think).

Ok, now why would that be crazy? Open mindedness is always good. Some think that our existence here on Earth is hell, don't ya know. And when you pass, who knows maybe you'll be in those green pastures we like to imagine. BTW, the quote (below) coming from Gandalf really moved me. Nothing would make me happier if it were true but I'm not gonna just dive in and accept it based on a movie, no more than I would based on a book.

Many contend that heaven is an actual physical location, but I argue that it is rather a state. (or peace of mind)

Definition of faith: 2 a (1): belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2): belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1): firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2): complete trust

The bolded part is what I want to focus on here. So much is unknown about the afterlife, as well as God's existence. We rely solely on what our hearts and instinct tell us, and for most Christians (like myself) it is this blind faith that guides us everyday. On the other hand, there is much more unknown about infinite galaxies millions of miles away. I think it is natural for one to tie the two together, God and Galaxy, simply because there is no tangible explanation for either. (Taking the Bible out of the equation, of course) In this case, it's my belief that one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

I think it's perfectly possible there are other life forms in different galaxies, whether it is human life or something else altogether. Either way, it's important to differentiate the things that are unknown....doesn't mean they're all related.

Actually what you're talking about is what Mormons believe. When you die you go to a different planet. Not any more crazy than what the normal Christian teaching of the afterlife is, really.

Bottom line when contemplating death, God, and the afterlife, we really don't know what is what. The religious/spiritual/philosophical among us, including myself are simply taking a big fat guess with what little concret info we have.
