BE FOREWARNED I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE THE FOLLOWING OPINIONS COME FROM WATCHING THE COMMERCIALS FOR THIS MOVIE.

okay now that you know the aforementioned, is it me or is there something a bit creepy about a man who can travel through time and watch a girl grow up into a woman then marry & bare her child? I know it's based on a book and there's probably some deep meaning having to do with age and time or whatever... Maybe I'm reading too much into a movie?

BTW the same plot was used in a looser manner in Doctor Who, but they just kissed and she passed away... :willy_nilly:

Bit like Highlander, that was creepy, he saves a little girl from the Nazis, trains her up to run his business while having a relationship with her and then when she's 50 odd, dumps her for some frizzy 80s haired nosey parker reporter

I saw the film & in some ways, you are right but... if you believe in the concept of a soulmate, then consider what happens if you are 40 & you meet your soulmate who is only 14..., or you are 17 & you meet your 40 year old soulmate - tough luck.

You could say that this guy was lucky enough to have the ability to travel back in time & meet his soulmate & then be able to meet her again when she is all growed up.

You really have to watch the movie to get the whole concept but in it he is living in one timeline, the same as us, but then makes leaps, randomly, backwards or forwards in time - he then returns to the original timeline. He & the girl are living in roughly the same time but in different places, he just has the ability to go back to meet her when she was a child, which means that he would have been a child as well, living in another place.

The whole time travel thing is not really the centre of the film, more a plot device to move the story forwards, but I am a huge fan of time travel & love to think about it's effects.
