We are now in Act IV, the one where the liberal class postures like the cowardly policemen in "The Pirates of Penzance." Liberals promise battle. They talk of glory and honor. They vow not to abandon their core liberal values. They rouse themselves, like the terrified policemen who have no intention of fighting the pirates, with the bugle call of "Tarantara!" This scene is the most painful to watch. It is a window into how hollow, vacuous and powerless liberals and liberal institutions including labor, the liberal church, the press, the arts, universities and the Democratic Party have become. They fight for nothing. They stand for nothing. And at a moment when we desperately need citizens and institutions willing to stand up against corporate forces for the core liberal values, values that make a democracy possible, we get the ridiculous chatter and noise of the liberal class.

The moral outrage of the liberal class, a specialty of MSNBC, groups such as Progressives for Obama and MoveOn.org, is built around the absurd language of personal narrative-as if Barack Obama ever wanted to or could defy the interests of Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase or General Electric. The liberal class refuses to directly confront the dead hand of corporate power that is rapidly transforming America into a brutal feudal state. To name this power, to admit that it has a death grip on our political process, our systems of information, our artistic and religious expression, our education, and has successfully emasculated popular movements, including labor, is to admit that the only weapons we have left are acts of civil disobedience. And civil disobedience is difficult, uncomfortable and lonely. It requires us to step outside the formal systems of power and trust in acts that are marginal, often unrecognized and have no hope of immediate success.

The women of Pakistan know nothing of living in a feudal state now do they? You have so much freedom, do me a favor, as a test walk into the nearest city square with a loud speaker and denounce Allah, then enjoy the rest of your short life. Oh I forgot, freedom is bad, only conformity matters so enjoy the good times in Pakistan as a man. Be proud of your country, just don't lecture us until you can be man enough to admit your own shortcomings.

http://india_resource.tripod.com/grpakistan.html:
In a 6 June, 2002 story (released by the Chinese Press Agency, Xinhua), the Shanghai Star carried the headline: "Pakistani mother vows to defend raped daughter", and reported that Shiraka Bibi's daughter Zafran was languishing on death row with her young baby, born after the result of being repeatedly raped by her brother-in-law. According to the report, Zafran was married to Naimat Khan (jailed for life for murder in 1992) in an arranged marriage 13 years ago. Zafran then became the victim of repeated sexual abuse by her brother-in-law. But the law offered her no protection, as she was unable to prove rape by producing the required four male witnesses, and was instead found guilty of adultery. No action has been taken against her alleged attacker and Zafran has appealed her conviction in the federal Shariah court, the highest Islamic court. If Zafran loses her appeal, she will be stoned to death under the Islamic Hadud ordinance.

Muslim are forbidden to abuse Allah.....that constitutes violation of existing law!

Are you asking Muslims to violate the laws of their land???

In fact YOU are not free.....you can't even take one more woman as wife!
You are in chains....to avoid and 'trick' law you indulge in extra-marital sex and illicit relationships just because you don't want to give the poor female victim the RIGHTS which a single family and a married couple enjoys!! Shame!

The production of 4 witnesses by the victim sounds like a dilemma and a controversial matter.
But that victim in the story was not raped... she fornicated with that man...and bore him a baby!!
All was exposed when she was caught! Her mother only trying to cover her ''crime''...or ''sin'' as religious people would call it.

Why don't you see that women or her family and tell us the true story??

Your laws that allow men to place their boots on the necks of women are corrupt. Your support of the oppression of women is indefensible. Allah would not approve.

Speaking of corruption: http://www.heritage.org/index/country/Pakistan
Corruption is perceived as pervasive. Pakistan ranks 139th out of 180 countries in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index for 2009. The perception of corruption has worsened in the past year, with the police, land administration institutions, the judiciary, education, and local governments regarded as the most corrupt public-sector institutions.

Where does that 'report' speak on boots and bums???

You are only endorsing my statements previously made repeatedly on this forum on different threads. But your adamancy prevents you from realizing and admitting the facts. you're just bleating the same shit again and again!:thumbdown

If Pakistan is so corrupt then why is America supporting its governments???? Doesn't it tell upon your 'double standards' and 'hypocrisy'??? I bet you wouldn't be here IF the rulers of my country weren't corrupt! Try this game of yours with Iran and see how they take it!!

Allah does what he WILLS! Pakistan is doing what Allah willed, what makes you piss in your pants??:(

I don't want to discuss your report because your status and motivations in this forum are overtly hostile. The only meaningful discussion of substance you might get around here will be after you can admit your own and your countries shortcomings before you can expect anyone to discuss theirs. In the mean time, I'd rather spend my time throwing rocks at your glass house.

Isn't this like, the definition of irony?

Maz, you will probably disregard me saying this and if you don't, you'll probably twist it so you can make it all about you being wonderful, but I don't know how to make this more clear - threats, hostilities and bigotry are exactly what you yourself use in almost all of your arguments. No one has any respect for you, because you cannot have a debate without acting like a complete child.

You don't get it. What motivation do I have to debate my economic/political system's flaws with someone as deeply flawed as you? Someone who loves to toss shit but can't acknowledge there are serious flaws in their own country? You have lost your credibility in this forum.

A bit late and more than likely trivial to give my thoughts on the topic of this thread, but I shall do so anyways just because I rather not talk about the latest celebrity gossip with most. No offense though...I just do not find celebrities all that important enough to gossip about in real life or online.

Now then...my opinion is that no one on earth is truly free. No one. Not within our nation or another. When something is deemed "forbidden" then that is where the reality sets in for me. Of course, there should always be things in this world that are "forbidden" such as rape, murder, and slavery. But when is it a crime to think for ones self? When is it a crime to believe in something that you believe to be true? When is it a crime to share your ideals with another so long as it is not harming anyone in a physical manner? When does it become "forbidden" to live your life the way, not on how God nor Alliah decide, but on how you decide as an individual? The problem does not lay within our nations though it would seem that way due to the media at times. The problem lays within ourselves as individuals. We must be willing to be open minded to others beliefs that do not include the harming of innocent men, women, and children. We must be willing to accept each other for our actions and not our religions. Everyone on this planet is a slave. When the United States wants to go to war at times...they sometimes lie to us about the reasons. They alter our minds to think that what we are doing is right at times, but the same holds true for other nations. To perform a Kamikaze because Allah will accept you into his graces for ridding the world of the "evil" that plagues your society and endangers your way of life. When shall we see that we are masters of our own lives. We determine our own fate. We have the right to say no and yes to whatever our nation demands of us without having to fear retribution. No matter how much we point fingers at one another for the flaws in our nation we are missing out on something more in the chaos. Each other. Who we are as individuals. We can defend our nations till we are blue in the face or green with envy, but when all is said and done...we are nothing like our countries because we are individuals. We are slaves on the same planet. Some in chains and some not wearing chains. We defend our nations because we have pride in our nations, but do not let pride blind you to the truth about our nations. We are slaves...just in different ways. Some of us have it a bit better than others, but we are still slaves to what our nations tell us is "right" or "wrong". It is that simple. Then again, those are just some opinions of a mere individual as always.
