do you think that sometimes the simplest things make the best shots?

Yes, I do. I've taken shots of simple things like a blossom tree twig and flower lying on the path near the tree (as simple as you can get) and that was one of my favourites.

However, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder of course with photos much like anything and for sure, I'm aware that what I might find highly appealing is not the case for others and vice versa.

I think that's a hydrangea, Ian...but it's lovely nonetheless!

Rhododendrons typically lose their blooms after spring, but stay evergreen...plus the blossoms look more like hydrangea...then again, we have different names for things so maybe that's what it is in the UK.

hydrangeas around here are blue or pink (acid- or base- -rich soils, respectively; or vice-versa, i've no idea).

but red. nice :nod:
