Anyone spot the unfair bias and racism within these articles?

If the city is already 86% african american...its probably true that 86% of the victims are going to be african american. I am so tired of the "race" excuse. As a child I had nothing...I have even LESS opportunities than that of the next average african american. I dont get college scolarships just becuase I am white....God no, that would be racist. I dont have a month dedicated to the history of my ancestors. I am so tired of the racist excuse. I have what I have becuase of me...and I what I dont have is because of me as well. Get off your ass and do something about your life if you dont like it wether you are white, black, brown, or even freaking green!!!

86% of New Orleans was black.....86% of the people stranded are going to be black...and 86% of them stealing are going to be black as well. Its not a racists thing, but a numbers thing. Think about it.

There is a church camp down the road from where we live and they are letting the LA hurricane evacuees stay there and Im not even kidding when I say this, but 99% of them are all black. I dont know why that is but I guess its like what CareBear said. A mass majority of them are all african american.
Just yesterday at work, I cant even begin to tell you how many of the LA evacuess came in to be seen because of sickness or whatnot and EVERY one that came in yesterday were african american.

Out of a total of 3,109,601 residence in Louisiana, 991,740 are Black or African American according to the US Census Bureau 2000. That's only 32% of the total population, while 64% of the population is white. When you break it out by just affected area's, the percentages are just a point or two different. I'm not sure where the 85% came from, but it's not even close to the real numbers.

Now the question is... Why are there so many more African American's being placed in your area?

:dunno I haven't a clue. Thats kind of what I was wondering as I was halfway thru reading your post. But its true. My boss and her husband have been going up there alot to help out and she said you would be amazed. Alot of them are so grateful for all the help and some are just downright rude. Her husband went and bought a bunch of fishing poles because he thought they might want to fish at the pond that is at the churchcamp and he said not a single one knew how to fish! He has even taken a few into town so they could start filling out job applications. Its just sad regardless of what color you are. They can either appreciate all the help that has been given to them or they can be downright rude and people will quit helping those ones.

Maybe it's because they are at a church camp. What denomination is this church that runs this camp? If it's a Catholic church, one might expect more whites to be there since more Catholics are more often white, statistically speaking. Where if it were a Baptist or Protestant church, they may be working with sister churches from the affected region and have a larger Black or African American congregation.

Just a thought :dunno

Ok? That has nothing to do with the picture of the media.

Look at how they describe the caucasian couple "Two residents wade through chest-deep water after finding bread and soda." where as the black guy got the descripion of "A young man walks through chest deep flood water after looting a grocery store..."

What's the difference in "finding" and "looting"? NOTHING. The media is subconciously spouting racially explicit garbage in the headlines, which then feeds subconciously into our minds. It's all racial bullshit.

I am honestly one who does not give a flip about the looting. I know that 75% of it was for survival…and then those just looking to get some stuff. I can’t necessarily say I wouldn’t have taken a pair of shoes or even a funky toy for my kids. The biggest thing that bothered me was the “looting” the gun store to use on another human being. But, to call this an ethnic issue is ridiculous. Media is screwed regardless…but maybe they are using the words “finding” a loaf of bread…because that’s all they have….but the “looting” man has an enormous bag full of stuff. Now I can’t speculate on whether or not there is just water jugs in there…but that huge bag full of stuff is certainly more than the one loaf of bread being drug in the water.

This is what gets me though…do you honestly believe that if the majority of these people were the poor white instead of black, that things would have been handled any differently. Maybe if New Orleans was white then they would have spent the money decades ago to build levies that would properly hold a hurricane of that magnitude. Cmon…that is ridiculous to think that!

YES! Things were handled very wrong….I’m the first to complain about that. They did not have their shit together. They did not have the resources, communication, and man power to take care of things. Our country needs a plan to deal with this natural or manmade destruction. But….can you honestly say that you honestly believe that somehow they would have miraculously become competent just if those were white poor instead of black poor.

maybe when n.o. was first found to be under sea level, they should have left..

maybe when...

quit with the maybes, and deal with the here and now..

and carebear: the picture shows two loaves of bread, not one :p.. and i agree that looting for survival is better than dying... but looting tv's and such, and especially the gun store(s) was wrong, except maybe for protection against those who were using armaments offensively... :dunno
