The Pillow

[Mirage]

As the coldness of night is upon me my thoughts turn to you.
Soon my eyes start to burn red like the embers of a dying fire.
My tears offer no comfort to my hot cheeks as they fall onto my pillow.
I bury my face into my pillow as if to hide from the world.
And before long my pillow is my closest friend taking the full force of my sobs.
My body starts to shake and quiver as the sobs take control of my breaking heart.
Soon it becomes hard to breathe like a fish out of water.
I'm gasping for life!
As I pull away from my pillow I realise that it offers me no comfort.
I am alone with only thoughts of you,

and nothing more.​
