So i am sitting here staring at a blank document titled "instructions.txt" and i just realized i cannot for the life of me wait until 5pm!!

Why is that Teh_Fuzz? what could possible give you that feeling at noon on a friday???

Let me explain...

I work in a field that can be somewhat technical; I design and manage the technical aspect of data centers from build out to production stages.

Everything from HVAC to network equipment, data center standards, installation management to simple paperwork. I get to tell general contractors what the organization i work for says we need to use and ensure we get it delivered, installed and in working order. In addition i am in charge of new installs, equipment lifecycles and once the data center is up and running, i manage its infrastructure from keeping inventories to managing power consumption.

I make an ass load of reports to executive leadership at my work place on a monthly, and yearly basis. I can tell you what kind of UPS system you will need based on the specific hardware you plan on putting in, i can tell you what type of optical fiber is best for short and long distances.. and I have the contacts to probably get you the best price possible.

Yet i am currently reduced to making a notepad document explaining management how to connect to the in-house wifi system...

"Click on the lower right hand side of your task bar - the icon that looks like a square with a little antenna"
"Locate 123WiFi from the list of current available wireless networks"
...

Some other documents i can surely add to my resume:
How to check your work E-Mail from home
Gmail and how to see it on your phone
Charging your laptop
Making room in your email inbox

LOL i need a beer TBH

TF, I work with one Judge that is the most puter illiterate guy you'd ever meet. I set him up to view a training video on his puter-it was an hour long, when I left him he was in front of it with his earphones on. When I came back about 90 minutes later he was still in front of it........a blank screen. All he had to do was move the mouse once in a while to keep it going but he didn't...and the screen went blank. Also. The video had ended, but instead of clicking that he had seen it he proceeded to listen to the whole thing play again and again....in front of a blank screen.

Tell me about how dumb u think ur people r that need instructions...

I always respect a person who willingly admits they don't know what they're doing, because I work with someone who asks for help by asserting she knows EXACTLY how to fix it, just wants you to do it...aka show her the real way so she never looks stupid.

Roll on, 5pm! And beer for TF :p

Is this like getting Staci to pour beer out of a boot with instructions on the heel? :D

Well its not only that this specific person is technologically impaired, it is a feat of nature that this dude has been in such a position for over 20 yrs.

Ive seen horrible things like putting a whole conference call of like 15 people on hold
Heavily breathing into the phone
Badly-timed jokes
Inappropriate jokes
Horrible time management (worse than me lol)

There there TF, there is nothing you can do about this human behavior, this and worse will go on and we will shake our heads and hit our foreheads with the palm of our hand in amazement, but it will happen.

Take the next two days off.......

Yeah, and in all he does some things well like... payroll!

I would like to eventually move up in my work place, but not simply because ive been here so long! I would like for it to happen based on my work ethic and merit. This is a great place to work but to be honest that certain employee pool is not something I would prefer to be associated with at times LOL
