I assume there are lots of people here who play guitar. I'm a novice, I started about 6 months ago. I've got a cheap little electric travel guitar called The Galveston that I purchased at Musician's Friend online. It plays good enough to practice with. And I have a Fender Squire starter kit with a GDec amp like this. It plays pretty well. Then I purchased a course online Learn & Master Guitar because I travel a lot with my job and it's not always convenient to sit down with an instructor. It's a pretty good course but I'm currently banging my ahead against the wall learning cords, tough little mothers. ;)

I also discovered a site online called MusicNotes.com which has a nifty software program called guitar guru (mac/pc). If you purchase a song (about $7), you can download the sheetmusic and tabs and if it includes a guitar guru session, an automated fret board shows you exactly how to play the song and it can be slowed down.

Nothing can take the place of the original song though, and I've been looking for an MP3 or similar player that can slow down a song playback. There is a program called The Amazing Slow Downer that does an excellent job of this, although it costs $49, a bit high imo. I'm playing around with it in "unregistered" mode. I'm also looking for other resources that might accomplish the same thing at a better price.

Besides my guitar course, I'm playing around with the acoustical intro to Crazy on You. Wow, it's fast! :eek Anyway, if you know of any online resources you use which assist in your ability to learn guitar, if you are a beginner or pro and have any general suggestions, I'd like to hear from you!

I really blew an opportunity. I met Steve Hunter who played with Alice Cooper and did the live album with Lou Reed that has IMO some of the greatest guitar licks ever. He came to my house to be interviewed about 5 years ago by my daughter for a class project. My wife had said this guy coming over who frequented the roller rink had toured with Cooper. I had no clue it was him until he left. Then I found out Hunter was his stage name. He got out of the touring and does some teaching. I would have paid for lessons just to watch him play :D

Anyway to stay back on topic I hope some people have some things to add for help. My left hand just will not contort to do much of anything with chords. If I remember the term I think it was power chords where you use only 3 fingers to get the gist of a chord.

I've been playing about 4 years, and i haven't really used any recourses except Ultimate-Guitar and a book of chords.
I have a Mexican Fender Stratocaster. I really recommend it, even for novices, It's well worth the extra couple of 100s.

But as with anything, persistence is the key to success..

Hi guys. Thanks! :)

Can you all read music? If so, I'm trying to figure out why this song is listed as 4/4 but in the first bar is has 2 groups of 3 notes? I don't understand...
