Reason thrives on the internet? On what sites? The internet is a cesspool of low brow activity. It is where it thrives. I think a hospital, medical science, is a much more reasoned and has a much higher percentage of very educated people than any internet site. How many people hanging on these forums do genetic research or neurosurgery? I doubt I would hear any bullshit conspiracy theories, racist rants, etc.. in a hospital either, which is what most of the dialogue on the internet is.The internet is the best place to make an atheist. A hospital is the best place to make a Christian. That's because reason thrives on the internet and faith thrives in hospitals.
I would still consider the average hospital patient to be of a higher intellectual calibre than the average internet poster. Go through some tweets or comments on youtube videos. As somebody has said, the internet is the biggest stupidity amplifier ever invented. You know how many lizard people conspiracies I have heard from people in real life? Zero. I here stupidity like that on the internet daily.I'm talking about the patients, not the staff.
In the survey of 1,044 doctors nationwide, 76 percent said they believe in God, 59 percent said they believe in some sort of afterlife, and 55 percent said their religious beliefs influence how they practice medicine.
