The Hunger Games Trilogy

I dont recall seeing a thread about this trilogy. Anyone read it!?

Must admit they're NOT my kind of books, but after all the rantin and ravin people are doing and all the amazing reviews, i had to see what it was all about. I devoured the 1st book!! sucked right int!! i started and finished the 1st book yesterday, DL'd the 2nd book today but havent gotten into it yet cause ive been doin housework all day.

AND they're making a movie!!

I recommend these!!

my son, who is 13, was saying they are great books too. Apparently they studied them as part of their English in grade 8 this past school year. So i may have to read them considering you guys also say they are good.

I read half of the first book but had to give it back because it was a book from school and if you don't return a book from school before a set date, they freeze your report card.

Don't go by me... I loathed Part 7 of Harry Potter too.

I seem to have a problem with the latter volumes in a series.

You might love it... it just struck me wrong.

Ok, so i concur!! the 3rd one was a MAJOR disappointment!! i was unsure about it up until chapter 25, then i knew i hated it!! complete waste!! i would have been content with just skipping to the Epilogue and reading just that!

um....semi futuristic fantasy semi horror? LoL

its quite intriguing. set in the future, there are 12 districts (instead of states), once you turn 12 your name is put in the drawing to be a 'contestant' in the Hunger Games. 2 are chosen from each district (1 boy, 1 girl) 24 contestants are put in this staged arena and you have to fight to the death to be the last one standing. Its a survival game, everyone is your enemy ontop of the game hosts setting up booby traps killing off people ontop of everyone killing everyone else.

sounds horrific, but its very subdued, not too graphic. enough to catch the readers attention

It's a variation on the Japanese "Battle Royale" manga and subsequent movie but with WAAAAYYY less sex and violence and half the contestants. At least books 1 and 2 were. Book 3 took a hard left into a totally different type of novel.

Just finished reading the trilogy, I loved all 3 of them. Looking forward to the film coming out
