So I saw that the first ps3 auctioned off at $3000, Not a bad profit, buy it for 600.. sell it for 3000. maybe I should have been standing in line.
It's unfortunate that the area I live in did somehow manage to be one of the lucky places to actually sell ps3 on its release. we had people here from as far as Denver and Salt Lake City lining up to buy the ps3.. because of the limited sales. Most of them buying it for the flip. I cant imagine standing in a line to buy a product, walmart had a huge line.. but they only had 8 available, and I believe the actual electronic stores were limited to like I0..
I am not sure what Sony was thinking with limited first release beyond the profit they were gonna make, knowing the sell out rate.. Bet they looking at those auctions now and kicking theirselves in the ass...lol
But I have not heard all the stories, Though I have heard there was one mugging resuluting in serious injury when a purchaser left the store with his ps3, and another where a guy was shot over a dispute over their place in line.
and apparently things were even nastier with the release in japan, where they were litrally turning into mobs outside of stores in an effort to be the first to get the ps3.
Seriously, I enjoy playing games on occasion.. but is any game really worth this much trouble let alone this much money??
