No animated series has been nominated for an Emmy in the comedy catagory since 1961. I didn't know that was when "The Flintstones" was nominated. Never occurred to me that show could garner a nod. Anyway, "The Family Guy" has made it!

I love this show. It's wickedly and subversively funny. The creator is one funny man! I saw him on Maher last month, he cracked me up.

In one clip, viewed 14 million times on YouTube, family members stage a "puke-a-thon" to see who can hold off vomiting after guzzling ipecac. In another, the same brood performs a spirited song-and-dance routine about the joys of smoking marijuana.

That is my favorite clip, the puke-a-thon:

I've contributed to those 14 million more than a couple times!

Here's to The Family Guy!!

WOOHOO!!

The Flintstones were a cartoon targeted towards the 60's adult set ( it really wasn't the 70's until it became more child oriented) as Family Guy is but I'm surprised The Simpson's back in the day were never nominated. Not that the award means squat.

I never figured The Flintstones as adult fare, like The Family Guy or The Simpsons. I don't see the adult angle, but it was a different time.

I was surprised about The Simpson's never receiving a nod either. The show was so popular in the 90's, one would think it should have been a natural pick. Oh well.

The Family Guy is well deserving too.

No one comes close now or have ever come close to the Family Guy for volume of adult lines.

They marketed it as a prime time show when it originally ran and there are commercial floating around online of The Flintstones pushing cigerettes... so yeah :)

Hmmm...I remember Batman in prime time and I did see the adult spin in that, but not Flintstones. I guess time has put a different perspective on it for me.
