I didn't watch it, but I gather as usual we managed to not win

Why the fuck do we never enter anyone with a chance of actually winning? Like someone with a proven record of winning shit? Engelbert Humperdinck, really? We couldn't have got Cheryl Cole or Bruno Mars or, I don't know, absolutely anyone who's actually doing well at the moment?

Eurovision is what it is, a shit singing contest where political popularity shines through. But not to say the UK's entries aren't shit, which they are. Most of Englebert's fanbase will be in the deaths column of the local newspaper this time next month, which didn't really help. Plus the fact that he hasn't been heard of since 1987 and some people actually thought he was dead.

I didn't watch it, but it's always shit so this year would have been no different.

That's the thing, I had literally no idea he was still around, let alone still able to perform. Who chooses these people?

We can't enter someone decent because no one wants to do it. Bruno Mars is American and Cheryl cole won't be able to mime so she can't do it :p

If only we had our own version of lordi...

Why would you want to win it? You only have to host it next year. Without Terry Wogan, Eurovision isn't worth watching.

Bruno Mars is AmericanQUOTE]

A Canadian-singer represented Switzerland in 1987, can't remember her name but I was tweeting about it with someone a few days ago about it. You don't have to be from Europe to be choosen to represent a country, heck Germany could choose Justin Bieber and Russia could choose Rebecca Black (when she's legal) and then she'll be used as a Russian Bride. :p

I stand corrected I just looked up the Eurovision rules on Wikipedia. I always thought a performer had to have a link to the country they were performing but it's not the case.

I still don't think Bruno Mars will be jumping at the chance of performing on Eurovision though :p

I like this show a lot i am a member on ESC forums too ..i dont post a lot there as i hate the arguments that going on sometimes
maybe most songs are crap but what i like is getting to know singers from other places .. you wont get that a lot on just from the show but on the forums there are many talks and who should sing and i love it when people post singers and different songs from where they are from ..

it is sad to see that it is more about politics that anything else
but still like it .
