This interesting article popped up in my local newspaper today:

Presidents’ impact on job growth questioned
http://www.daytondailynews.com/news...idents-impact-on-job-growth-questioned/nSTfX/

excerpt>
But economists have been critical of the lack of specifics coming out of both camps, and are skeptical given the political climate that either candidate would get his plan through Congress.
“These are not plans,” said Edward W. “Ned” Hill, dean of the College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. “These are two different economic cartoons.”

Hill said any sweeping proposals don’t stand a chance in a polarized Congress, and the candidates are avoiding mentioning specifics because they don’t want to lose votes.

Worth reading, imo.

Interesting reading. They can all tout tax cuts etc. but real spending cuts and regulatory reform will do more to get companies hiring than anything. That and to actually pass a damn budget and stick to it. Companies don't survive if they don't plan and budget and the past 4 years of lack of budgets and runaway spending has hampered job growth. Consumers have tightened their spending just as the government should.

IMO Obama pretty much got what he wanted run through congress during the first term..his plan just isnt working.
Then with Obama care adding 2500 a year to peoples living expenses its a recipe for disaster... as people will have even less money and the demand for goods and services will decline putting more out of work...coupled to the fact that prices will go up as employers will now be paying more as well.
I see another great depression in the future if Obama is elected.

Romney.
I have been screaming his system for years.
When we lower taxes everything goes down {as everything is taxed along the way in the USA}
This gives us extra blow money which means we can buy more non necessity items which put people in jobs.
The more non necessity items being purchased the more money they govt makes from this..which in effect creates more tax revenue.
It essentially the same as workers getting a raise as the tax burden has been lowered.
After we pay our basic bills and buy our groceries we may not have much left from the paycheck.
Just an extra 50 a month to blow will be major for the economy....100 million households blowing 50 bucks a month {which is just a little over 10 bucks a week} comes out to 5000000000 bucks which a needs over 3 million jobs alone to keep up with the extra cash people now have
Thats alot of people off the tit ..and tax reductions loses are quickly regained due to reduced titty suckers and more goods and services being purchased.
Not to mention these 3 million workers will now be paying taxes...blowing cash that will create more jobs
50 bucks a month was just a random number to show it doesnt take much to have a major impact on the economy.

You can cheer all you want for Romney....the point of the article is that the claims and cheering on both sides.... is a lot of hot air.
A lot of polarization for the purpose of capturing the election.
A President like GW Bush can do a lot of damage and a President like Obama can extend the damage further.
But neither extreme has been shown to be particularly constructive. Not only do they carry the baggage of past Presidents, in their attempts at radical change they manufacture new obstacles.
The extremism of trickle down economics doesn't work ....as recently proven and taxing a way to prosperity an economic fallacy.... as economic models for a whole society.

One question you need to ask yourself.......do you trust either one, Obama or Romney? :D
Not who you'll vote for.....who you trust.....;)
imo....neither.

Perhaps Congress will save us? ( good one, Jack :D )

I figured I would get on board with Romney before the lefts invaded the thread

While no president may not have as much influence on job creation as they would like ..the plan does at least need to be plausible.
Obama wants to create jobs as in actually creating positions rather that an increase happen via demand.
While Romney wants to let people have a few more bucks in the pocket so they will spend more to create jobs.
I go with the second option.

As far as do I trust either one?....Well they are people and politicians to boot so trust isnt very high.
I know I dont trust Obama...or wait actually I do I trust that he will continue on the path of socialism.;)

All I want is a President who will not go full speed ahead towards socialism and perhaps slow the pace..Why I am voting Romney.
While he may not be able to get alot done due to party locks...I do believe he will at least try to guide us in the right direction.

Besides I would much rather listen to "Where are Romneys tax returns" for the next 4 years rather than news of all the crooked appointees that Obama is famous for.

I can see it now...."the tax return was a fake it was Photoshopped"
"He isnt really religious, revered wright says he never attended his church"

And I dont have to hear about people being racist when they disagree with Obama policies.

Romney wants what Romney wants and he has no want or needs beyond becoming elected. Not much different to Obama, just a different path.
IMO....he has no more credibility than the current bleeding hart incumbent and financial critics are calling both on their lack of detailed economic plans.
This thread isn't about who to support and vote for, it's commentary about the lack of details.

Forgotten in these vague economic plans are the wars the US still finances, global warming issues that impact potable water, crop yields......natural resource issues that go beyond energy.

The campaigns are focused on job creation which, as commented on in that DDN article, neither candidate has the influence they seem to infer.
They're yacking the tired old mantra 'it's about the economy, stupid' while ignoring the future's impact upon it.

All I want is a President who will not go full speed ahead towards socialism and perhaps slow the pace
I understand your position and prefer a capitalist economic model, myself......but....is Romney the answer?
There is a lot of mistrust of him in foreign issues relating to the neocon influence on policy.

http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-po...icy-written-those-who-ignored-al-qaeda-threat
It's a long article......much GW Bush/neocon history. Start on page 6:

http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-po...en-those-who-ignored-al-qaeda-threat?page=0,5
starting with
The Romney Retreads

Or:
http://www.thenation.com/article/167683/mitt-romneys-neocon-war-cabinet
Mitt Romney's Neocon War Cabinet

Sure....it's easy to write off those articles as being politically biased, but they do bring to light a neocon influence and neocons aren't exactly capitalists, they're more the corporate socialist.
Interesting article by Nader on the subject:

I just watched a documentary on Netflix that y'all might find interesting called "End of the Road." It's only an hour, but explains the runaway spending really well.
