My hair doesn't like to take to blonde I guess... I tried once before for my senior prom and it looked about the same except it was way shorter.

And was it ash blonde or not?

I think it was probably ash something or other. Perhaps if he tried a l'oreal brand of blonde and kept it on for more than 30 minutes, maybe even as long as 50, he'd get the results he was looking for...what do you think?

I used a product by L'oreal called Super Blonde. It was in for over an hour.

wow. was it powdered?

Anyway...let me see....try blondissimo or whatever it's called...lol...I think it's a silver box and it has two packets of powdered mix in it..use them both and keep it on for 50 minutes. good luck

Ash blond keeps it from turning reddish.

I have no idea. Sadie.

My hair is naturally dark as hell but when I want to go blond.. we bleach it.. then colour.. if not I get orangeish reddish. :surrender

My hair is naturally blonde but more like a golden shade....I hate it, so I went blonde blonde...lol...I usually get it done professionally but i've done it myself a few times and it was fine.

Every time I have gone blond without bleaching it's been a very odd shade, my hair has a lot of red highlights when I don't mess with it.. so the dye usually picks up on those.

I am now dying my hair my natural colour because of grey hairs.. I am sticking to my natural colour cuz if I get my way soon... I won't be able to dye my hair.. :D

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that going from dark hair to blond hair is a process. Not a 'put dye in, and wham you have lovely blond hair straight away' kind of thing...

I'm pretty sure putting dye in your hair is never good for it in the long run, so you might as well go all the way and do it properly. But I've never gone lighter myself, always darker!

A friend on facebook said "You have to strip the color first" wtf does that mean?

You can buy a product which 'strips' the color from your hair, but I think its pretty tough on the hair.

Honestly in my opinion, if you want to go lighter it is worth going to a hairdresser to get it right and then later on just do the home dye thing
