Okay, I absolutely LOVE Rent...it's the first play I actually got to see on Broadway and I fell in love w/ the music before I even knew what the play was about. Anyway, I saw the movie (which I loved, by the way) but seeing it live on Broadway was a whole 'nother experience. The story is sooooooooooo much more touching and convincing when you see it played out on stage. Well, they filmed the last Broadway performance back in September and just released it on DVD this month. I got it in the mail earlier today ($18.99 on Amazon, by the way) and just finished watching it. NO LIE, I went through 3 damn kleenexes during the performance b/c I couldn't stop crying. LOL
It brought back memories of being on Broadway watching it. I remember sitting in my seat sobbing and thinking "this is soooooooooooooo much better than the movie!!!"
So yeah...I'm a big baby and I love my Rent...so sue me. LOL
