At the theaters waiting to see Avatar, 3 of the 4 trailers were remakes. .Producers are scared to fund original projects right now, they want guaranteed revenue. .Remakes usually guarantee a pretty good return.

they need to stop remaking films.

for the most part yes. sometimes remakes are good, not always just sometimes.

especially since most seem to be made just to remake a film and squeeze a few extra bucks from the movie's name.

They're remaking? They already have 2 movies of The Crow. (dunno about a third). I think I'll skip out on this one.

Pointless. As someone said, it's just a cheap lazy way to cash in but the'll keep doing this as long as people stupidly keep falling for it.

I guess the're running out of classic Michael Caine films to butcher. Wasn't the remake of the Italian job set in LA? Why the fuck do people fall for this dumb shit?

Becuase people are morons.

What I hate the most is when films are remade just becuase they are in a language other than English and people can't bare to watch a subtitled movie. Like the movie Let The Right One In. It's a brilliant movie but it wasn't in the cinemas becuase it is a Swedish film with English subtitles and a few months after it was released an Americanised version was announced.

Americans remaking British films and programs annoys me just because they are uber conservative and cant cope with a bit of bad language, some un PC humour or worst of all, a flash of tit.

I'm not convinced that's the sole reason they do it. Maybe they just like seeing their own countrymen in the lead roles!?

And sometiems they do a good job (e.g The Office, US version, was pretty damn excellent).

But yes, sometimes it is complete crap. For example The Italian Job remake. Pointless. Or Get Carter.
