I think it is hilarious. God forbid a Democrat or a Republican are not as conservative or as liberal as the way off in left or right wing nut jobs want them to be. God forbid we have more balanced people holding public office.

Very true. Somewhat of a related thought, I hate how people vote straight Democrat or straight Republican. I think one should vote on the issues, but I digress.

I'm not going to piss anybody off with borderline name-calling, because being a yellow dog sucks and they know it.

If you can't tell who they are after spending, oh say, a week in philosophy/debate and/or politics, seek professional help. IMMEDIATELY!!

someone who is so partisan, they would vote along party lines even if a yellow dog were running.

it started as a democrat label, but it's universally applicable and in this context, I meant it to apply to the right AND the left. Yellow dog Republicans and yellow dog democrats both populate this site, and they're pretty easy to spot.
Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.

I look forward to the day when we have a breakthrough party that combines the best of the Democratic and Republican parties and combines them. It sure would make voting easier for me. Until then I will keep voting for the 'person'.

Yeah, that yellow dog kind of mentality pisses me off too. I vote for what I think's best for my country, choosing who to vote for isn't like supporting some bloody football team that you stick with regardless! I currently vote Conservative but there would be more chance of getting a condom machine in the Vatican than getting me voting for them if they were still under the Maggie Thatcher regime!

Some morality issues are the reason why people vote straight party. I know most catholics vote Republican straght ticket, because of their stance on abortion, euthanasia, etc.

Ever look at the Libertarians?? :cool

I post at another site and here is the first time I have ever heard of a Yellow Dog. Boy is that ever appropriate for what some people are like. They vote lock step Rep or Dem no matter what. Kind of nauseating if you ask me and very shallow. It is like they have no ability to reason. They are led by party rhetoric. Both parties do suck. I think the Dems are worse but the Reps are being run over by the religious right. and to claim the Reps are conservative would be a joke. Look at what Nixon did. OSHA, EPA and other HUGE programs that are screwed up bureaucratic messes that contribute little IMO.
