I've been bringing my religion in severe question lately, but I've decided, before I make any descisions, I'm going to read through the whole Bible over this summer. Every time I finish a book, or find something interesting, or have something to offer, I'll be posting a post about it. So it's sort of like a blog, only on a forum.
If anyone's interested, feel free to stop by every now and then for my thoughts and insights.

Good luck on reading the Bible during the summer. I've never been able to read through the book in that short amount of time. Might I suggest a 'practical application' study Bible to read as well so that you don't have to use 3 other books for cross reference when it comes to culture, language, artifacts, geography, etc.

I'll come in a yibber yabber if you like. I am always reading the Bible. I am currently in Acts in the NT (again).

Technically I'm a Christian, but I've never read the bible fully.
I believe Christianity is not a doctrinal religon, it should be used as a means to spiritual contentment, and teaching values.

Reading the bible may swing your faith in either way, and my warning would be to not base your view on Christianity on the Bible entirely, we must remember that the Bible is not pure in it's form, and it shouldn't be your sole link to faith.

edit: It's things like this that make me sick:
Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids | World news | The Guardian

I know that's the catholic division, but still - I believe religion is always manipulated by those who head it. Religion is about freedom, spiruality, kindness, not a set of fucking outdated shite rules that do nothing but incite the exact opposite of what Christianity is supposed to represent.
Seek religion on your own and on your own terms. Always.

Okay, so I've finished Genesis. God, that was boring (no pun intended). Very, very, long, drab, and dull, not to mention confusing. It's very easy to get lost in the many names which constantly change, and their families, etc.
Also, God keeps popping up every page. None of these people do anything by themselves. Joseph was a little independent, but still had a large helping hand from God.
Hopefully, the rest will be better. Maybe I'll get a audio book version.

No, but before I definitely call myself an atheist, I want to say that I have a knowledge of Christianity and have read its Bible.

That's good. Knowledge is power.

Me, I haven't read the bible through or anywhere near that. Just don't have the patience for it and can't be bothered.

I don't believe in atheism. lol

I'm Christian by birth only really, but spiritual by nature, I believe that any organised religion is for not the benefit of a deity but human emotion - and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

But there must be some higher being or power, my connection is through Christianity only because I know of it best, and thus I can also disagree with it justly.

Glad to see the honesty and I think its well worth reading. I've read it through myself. There are some great bits in it but I find it like digging gold out of a pile of shit. From an analytical point of view, it's poorly written. Good luck with it though, it's definately worth reading to open your eyes about Christianity and how far removed it is from the Bible.

I wouldn't call them excellent remarks at all, but whatever you want to hear is sure to please you.

Understand that there are many people that call themselves Christians that aren't; so to call them far removed from the Bible, fine if you actually know God's Word so that you can truly discern this ... but to slander people that are Christians that are not far removed from God's Word by casting them out with the people that claim to be Christians yet aren't just isn't right.

Also, the Bible isn't the #1 sold and read book in the world because it is a pile of sh*t that is poorly written.

From a literary point of view, the bible is quite well written. It's epic in scope. That's all I'm sayin'.
