Mine is 'The Searchers' with John Wayne.

Having spent years chasing down false leads, when he finally catches up with her he almost shoots her, but instead takes her home. You watch his character change though the film, and at the end, as he returns her to her family they all go inside and he turns and walks away. The door closes behind him leaving him outside, alone, with his job done. I fill up every time I watch it!!

Hey! I added Jaws! But if you want the BEST endings, I have to say, in the history of movies, the one the shocked me the most was the original A Nightmare On Elm Street. Seeing that girl getting pulled through that hole in the door! :eek

I loved the ending to "The Village" I did not see that one coming. Same with "The Sixth Sense"

Also, not really a movie, but did anyone watch the Band of Brothers HBO miniseries? The interviews at the end of the last episode...no dry eyes here

I would have to say the classic Shane. The ending is when Shane rides off and the boy is not wanting him to leave. Now that is a classic.
