I personally like how the BBC news is pretty unbiased unlike other sources but that's still nowhere near being any justification to me to want to shell out £140 a year for a license and ITV news seems to be pretty balanced too. I'd rather it be privatised and have tv for free.

Being balanced was one of the beeb's strong points... ITV catching up might just tip the balance in that department...

I prefer watching TV without ads. And I like the documentaries the beeb have. Obviously living in Spain I don't pay any license fee any more but if I was still in the UK I'd be happy to cough up the fee, it never bothered me before...

... that said, it was only 92GBP last time I lived there.... is it really 140GBP now???!!!

Yep, it's really poor value seeing you pay that for just 4 channels, its almost as much as I pay for a few hundred channels on tiscali. I'm not a fan of advert either but you get them on all the other few hundred channels so I'd be well prepared to put up with them on an extra 4 channels and save £140.

No it's terrible value.

But the BBC is an important British institution, and it still produces some fantastic programs.

If you can ignore it's strange obsession with mediocre scottish actors.

Has Jonathan Ross got the sack? I can't believe the BBC payed him so much money. He's an alright film critic and I watch his movie programme but I cant' stand Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

Wossy didn't get the sack, he left though it might have been before he was pushed. I personally blame all the dickheads with nothing better to do that phone up complaining about him. Its got worse ever since the Manuel thing. Yes, he went too far there but he paid for it but people just wont let it go. He's an edgy presenter and ever since then, people keep complaining about every little slightly non pc thing he does. For christ sake, just dont watch if you dont like it. His viewing figures show how popular he is and I'd rather watch him than some over pc, bland presenter. BBC should be gutted that the're losing him.

What annoys me is the people who complain without watching the offensive programme. They read it in a paper or hear about it from someone else and then complain.

That's cos it was hilarious!

His grandaughter was a slut! rofl!

Hahahahaha yes.

"I'm so angry about what those men did to my granddad so I'm going to pose in every tabloid naked, talk about my porn movie, talk about fucking Russel Brand and advertise the fact I'm a stripper"

I bet he was so proud of his grandaughter.

What I found funny was the outpouring of emotion for some bloke that nobody would recognise in the street.

I bet it's cos he's short.

I think it's because he was a granddad and "how would you feel if your granddad was phoned up and treated like that" etc etc

What gets me about the BBC is why their female weather woman in the morning has to stand outside, but if it is a man doing the weather in the morning, he is in the studio.
