"A mentally unstable man is recovering in a hospital after ripping out his own eyes with his bare hands during a church mass in Viareggio, Italy.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and said that British-born 46-year-old Aldo Bianchini was calm and lucid. He told them a "voice told him" to rip out his own eyes in front of the 300-person congregation.
He was immediately taken to the Versillia Hospital where his condition is said to be serious, but not life threatening. Responders recovered his eyeballs, which they picked up off the church floor, but, unfortunately, doctors were unable to save the eyes.
The doctor who treated the man said that it would have taken superhuman strength for a person to gouge their own eyes out and that he'd never seen anything like it in his 26 years of practice.
Father Lorenzo Tanganelli, who continued the service after the incident, said, "I've never seen so much blood."

Not at all. They just can't figure out how he got all "hulked up" for lack of better term, and ripped out his own eyes.

Not to be a total dick, of course, that's really quite sad. I cannot even imagine what kind of psychotic state one would have to be in to do that...horrific. Nor could I imagine witnessing that :eek, and they just carried on?

I know you're joking but when you think about it, at least you could hook your fingers around the backs of your eyes and tug. No real purchase on your ears, especially once they start to bleed.
