But I thought of EMT for now because the schooling for it is only 8 weeks, and it's only on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 5pm. That's good cause I can still work during the week. I want to stay in the fields of helping people, even though some think Corrections don't help people, it's performing a service to the community. EMT's definitely help the community!

Your friends informed you well. You totally seem to understand what you are getting yourself into. It is a good jumping off point.

Dont know if you already said this or not.. But why dont you switch over to patrol or something.. It will still keep your retirement and all your benefits if you switch within the dept. Im switching over to patrol.. Im just waiting on the test, so I finish my mandate. I personally love my career path, unfortunately, there is only so high you can go (especially as a woman.. :( ).. EMT's dont seem to stay in their career field long.. and you still get abused by patients, ect. Any time you work in public service, you will get abused. :(

I was thinking about that V. I thought about switching to the Sheriff's Dept. or maybe even Patrol, but there's so many factors here that have changed my mind. I've been drug through the mud one too many times as a Correctional Officer, and I'm tired of cleaning out the shower, if you catch my drift....
