I am so glad he was able to beat his affliction, I was praying for him every night. And God has answered my prayers and healed him... Praise the Lord... hallelujah!

What a sick fuck...

Ted Haggard: Hey, I'm Not Gay Any More

TedHaggard.jpg

Ted Haggard came out of his magical three-week excursion and today announced that he's 100% heterosexual.

No more dick for him.

Nope, none.
Now you might laugh and think we're just teasing the good pastor, but strangely we believe him! Which doesn't frighten us as much as the ramifications of the next step, which is-- if Ted Haggard can stop being gay in just three weeks, can you become gay in just three weeks too? No offense to our GLBT friends, but we don't want to turn gay in three weeks, and we're sure they don't want to turn straight in three weeks. Whatever procedure Mr. Haggard went through needs to be analyzed and outlawed. Weed is illegal but the ability for others to change someone's sexual preference isn't? What if this technology gets in the wrong hands? You think we're kidding? This is a man who had the ear of the President of the United States... sometimes weekly. This man wouldn't lie. He's a man of God. If Ted Haggard says that he had a bunch of gay sex over three years, and then three weeks after treatment he's fully straight, then he needs to be fully believed.
And then fully probed.
What if the terrorist discover this technique and turn all our children gay? That's how you wipe out America. Stop people from being straight. And how would they get to our children? The schools. Everyone knows there's a teacher shortage. Those terrorists just can become teachers and in three weeks all of our kids are switching teams and watching The View.
Ted Haggard should be arrested.
Ted Haggard should be investigated... and analyzed... and there should be an autopsy on his straight then gay then straight body.

This, once again, is that whole behavior vs. biology thing.

You can change your BEHAVIOR. You cannot change your BIOLOGY.

That's all this is. He may not be acting on it, but you can't change your orientation like that.

Your right Leland, I don't think anyone would argue that fact here. It's only the religious zealots that believe you can become "gay free" with intensive therapy

That was to point of my thread. Showing what a bunch of idiots they are...

Most people don't get called zealots until they cross the imaginary line of normal and crazy. Religion has nothing to do with it. I'm sure even the most zealous of atheists would have a tough time making an argument that religion has been a net loss to mankind. Even with the conflicts that easily come to mind, look at the day to day lives of billions of people over the centuries.

I never heard of this guy until he got busted, but the news pounded him a little more than was fair IMO. He has honestly felt, deep convictions, but he also has a urges that he can't fight all the time. We've all had temptations get the better of us even when we know we shouldn't. Smokes, drink, drugs, doughnuts, candy, etc....

I'm glad CNN doesn't take that close an interest in me or my life. We all have things that we aren't proud of. His life is destroyed rather nicely for the time being. I say leave the poor guy alone.

These people shit me. Firstly they deny who they really are, to hide within their religious order, to ensure that they retain the support of the masses - that means lying to hold onto their power.

Then when they are caught in their lies, they lie some more. A great christian attitude - just remember he says that he is christian - not me.

The biggest problem I have with this guy is the fact that he was so anti gay throughout his ministry. He would preach to his congregation how it was a sin to be homosexual, he fought against gay marriage, he talked to the president every Monday giving him moral advice...
He took a very strong public view on homosexuality... and this is why I am critical of him.

If you don't posses enough moral fiber to refrain from doing what you publicly stand against. Then you deserve everything the press throws at you.

I know what you're saying, and I agree with you almost 100%. All I'm saying, is that nobody is perfect, but the majority of us don't have our lives completely destroyed by our mistakes.

I don't know... I think what bothers me most about the situation is how much attention a Christian gets when he blows it, and how little attention others get when they blow it. Anybody who thinks the news doesn't choose sides, ... **sigh** just isn't paying attention.

Good points Tim.

"how much attention a Christian gets when he blows it, and how little attention others get when they blow it."

Let's see: the guy was the head of the New Life Church, one of the biggest in the US; he was the leader of the multi-million member Nat'l Assoc of Evangelicals until he got "caught." Yeah, not too much in the spotlight. Yep, it was just because he was a Christian.

That's why I should have just gone to bed when I wanted to.

To clarify my idea.... He go pwned by his own stupidity. I think he got more attention for it than he deserved. I drifted onto a more broad thought of modern society, and tied the two ideas together poorly.

It's cool if we have different opinions. I just couldn't pass up a reply! ;)

I usually stay away from topics like this on Offtopicz and deal with them on Political Hotwire. I like to be more casual and relaxed on Offtopicz.:)

You're right, I think the media is completely biased when it comes to reporting. That's not fair, but it will continue to happen for ratings sake.

I know people make mistakes, but can you call this a mistake? If he believed what he was preaching, he should have never found himself in this possition. Because of his role as a moral leader, he is held to a higher standard. He, of all people know the concequences of his actions. If he felt the urge to "sin" then as a moral leader, his followers would have expected him to get help from the church and not act on those feelings. He has also "helped" many young men who had thoughts of homosexuality over the years by convincing them to go to the "reprogramming" program where they can be "cured" from homosexuality in three years... you know, the same course he did in three weeks that "cured" him. So what does that say to all those young men that came to him for advice and he showed them how wrong homosexuality was, convincing them to go get better?

This is why he should be held to a higher moral standard. or better yet, he should stop condemning homosexuality and telling people that they can be cured or need to be cured.

I have always looked at homo's as biologically different. I dont like the penis I like the vagina....so I would think that someone that looks at a man and get arroused has got to be; on the lowest level, different that me. So to say that 3 weeks "cured" someone of that is (in my opinion) wrong. Its all a ploy to get back what he used to have. Complete BS.
