Talking Turkey

I am looking for a suggestion as to the best way to prepare a turkey. So many people have suggested so many things but I do not hear a lot of explanation as to why they are preparing their turkey this way. Just that they have been doing it for years and it has always been good.

Does anyone have a particularly good way of prepping a turkey? I am fond of strange and interesting approaches. What is the reason you prepare your turkey this way? Benefits? Downfalls?

I guess the first question would be how big of a turkey are you preparing, also how many people will you be serving?
