No he gets into these messes all by himself.you were using your dads pc weren't you...
Here's an idea. If you know how to change the BIOS boot settings, then get hold of a 1GB memory stick, download Ubuntu onto it and set the BIOS to boot the memory stick first. That should get past the virus, then go from there to get rid of the virus. It worked for me when I had a pesky virus back in June/July.
are you suggesting dana do this?..the safer bet would be the new hard drive
It's not hard to change the Boot Drive order, I've guided even the completely non tech savvy through it.
changing the bios setting is one thing..but doing that along with swapping out memory sticks when dana isnt really tech savy is another animal..hows he going to know what type of memory stick he has along with the pin configuration?.or what to replace it with?..is he going to know if its seated correctly?,..etc...thats what im saying.
don't get me wrong..i like Dana,..but i think even he would feel more comfortable if someone was there with him to help rather than someone from a hundred miles away giving him instruction online
you are absolutely right,..thats why i was asking if he had a windows disk ..so he could at least get it to boot and can install MWBTrue, but it doesn't have to be that complicated. There are a number of 'flash' devices and programs out there that make the process so easy.
I've changed the boot order hundreds of times on my old computer when i had xp. it's pretty simple. It's not hard to change the Boot Drive order, I've guided even the completely non tech savvy through it.
oddly it disappeared anybody know how thatd happen? ran scans, search, check msconfig and task manager and there was nada
