I am officially considering switching to the Libertarian party. Assuming I do, I'll still be supporting Bush, McCain, and the Republican Party for senate and house elections (until Libertarians start running), but I'd be calling myself "Libertarian".

I'm considering switching names because I've switched on the following positions:

Gay Marriage
Illegal Immigration
Legality of Abortion

And that covers most of the social issues for the Republicans, which is the major difference between them.
So, do you think that that's enough to change party, or not? And any other thoughts on it?

Have you looked at the Libertarian party platform? If not it might help you decide.

I am fed up with the republicans. have been for years. When they took over the House of Rep I thought we might actually see some govt reform. Then they did the same as the dems and got cozy and power hungry.

I think what has really pushed me away though from the reps is their reliance on religion. I am sick of the religious right and their intolerance.

Viva la liberte !!

I say you pay attention to all of the platforms until you're 18, and THEN choose which one to support.

Until then, it's an exercise in academics anyway.

Yeah, I would wait before joining any political party until you mature more. I can promise you that you will not think the same way in 4 to 5 years the same way you think now.

The reality is however that if you vote Libertarian you are voting for a Democrat--same thing if you vote Green Party you are voting for a Republican. Right now its one or the other---there isn't any other choice.

I'm registered as a Centrist, but I agree with this ^ post.
