LONDON —
"Britain's Got Talent" sensation Susan Boyle was in the Priory clinic Sunday night suffering from exhaustion.

The singer had an "emotional breakdown" following Saturday's final in which she was runner-up. But the talent show favorite was still eyeing a United States tour.
The 48-year-old virgin, tipped to earn about $13 million, survived tears and a tantrum to finish second in Saturday's gripping final of television's "Britain's Got Talent."

But the pressure finally showed late yesterday as the Scottish singer — dubbed SuBo by fans — was rushed to the private clinic suffering from exhaustion.
Show aides had contacted police to say she was acting strangely at her London hotel.
Paramedics helped the "spaced-out" star through the lobby and into an ambulance just after 6 p.m. local time. A Met Police Inspector and a police doctor were called to assist.
The ambulance, tailed by a police car, then took her to the Priory clinic in Southgate, North London.
A source at the hotel said last night: "She'd been at the hotel for a few days, but since Saturday's final had been acting strangely, causing a bit of a stir.
"The staff were concerned - something wasn't right.
"When the paramedics and police arrived she agreed to go voluntarily. She didn't make a fuss. The paramedics calmly took her out through the main lobby and into the waiting ambulance.
"It was all done very calmly. They didn't want to stress or upset her. She didn't look well - she looked lost, not all there."
A source at the clinic said last night: "I was having a cigarette break when a whole load of ambulances arrived.
"Everyone was saying, 'Who's that'? Then I saw her and it was Susan Boyle. I was gobsmacked."

they set them up high on a pedestal
just so
they can shoot them down

the British tabloid press are scum - seems to me they think that by shining a light on someone like Susan Boyle they also have the right to invade every moment of their private lives

Yes.

If she was gorgeous, do you think the world would care? She's certainly not the best singer in the world, any lamen can tell that.

She made a big song and dance about not being kissed to rouse the sympathy vote as well...

At least she went down a storm at the Darwin cententary party for proving sexual selection.

'Variety Show' as the judges kept trying to stress. I would have liked to have seen Stavros Flatley win. Those two or Julian Smith.

Anyway, its not hostility.

She was encouraged not to pluck her eyebrows, wear make up, etc.

She is groomed to be ugly because thats what people want.

Do the names Leona Lewis, Girls Aloud mean anything to you yanks?

Anyone else see the irony in the fact that the American version features David Hasslehoff as a judge...of a show about talent? That always makes me pee a little... :24:

I swear to god, you hate on the Hoff again...*shakes fist* :p

Has anyone ever told you you're beautiful when you're angry?

Say what u want Hoff was da bomb on Knight Rider!

...and then came BayWatch...*douche chills*

As far as the whole Susan Boyle thing goes though, I can't imagine what going from small town nobody to instant superstar must've been like. Never in a million years could she have anticipated at 48 what kind of attention she was going to get. I'm not one to boo hoo over celebrity...but at the heart of it, she's not and I think it just got the better of her.
